🌿 Following on from yesterday’s post…

I shared what I do consistently to support my health.
Today, here’s the other side of the equation — what I consciously don’t do, because these boundaries are just as important for my wellbeing.

✨ Things I don’t do (by choice):

• I don’t drink alcohol
• I don’t smoke, v**e or inhale anything
• I don’t sleep with my phone in my bedroom
• I don’t leave WiFi on overnight
• I don’t look at my phone for the first hour of the day
• I don’t scroll before bed

✨ Food choices I avoid (because my body functions better without them):

• I don’t eat gluten (I’m coeliac)
• I don’t eat cow’s dairy (I’m dairy sensitive)
• I don’t eat refined sugar
• I avoid canola oil and poor-quality vegetable oils
• I stay away from processed and packaged foods
• I don’t eat inorganic meats, poultry, eggs or farmed salmon
• I don’t eat processed deli meats
• I avoid foods with numbers — preservatives, additives and flavour enhancers

✨ Lifestyle boundaries that protect my nervous system:

• I don’t push myself to the point of exhaustion
• I don’t use pharmaceutical medications that suppress symptoms without addressing root causes
• I don’t use chemical-laden cleaning, skincare or personal care products including sunscreens

✨ A few extra supportive tools I also use:

• Hydrogen water
• An air purifier
• EMF harmonisation tools on my devices and use a wearable pendant
• A stand-up desk for online consults
• A vibration plate
• A sauna blanket (new addition)
• An annual solo getaway to reset and recalibrate
• A structured health reset cleanse twice a year

None of this is about being “perfect” — it’s about listening to my body and respecting its limits. These choices reduce my toxic load, support my nervous system and allow my body to do what it’s designed to do: heal and regulate.

I’m stepping into a new chapter of my work — one that weaves together naturopathic medicine, emotional healing and quantum energy work. This approach is for those ready to go deeper.

More to come soon… but if this resonates, reach out and let’s have a conversation 🤍

(And yes — I’m running another Health Reset cleanse in February if you’d like to join me.)

🌿 Health optimisation isn’t about perfection

It’s about small habits done consistently.

People often ask what I actually do to support my health day to day. This is what has been most consistent for me — and what keeps me in good stead, even alongside ongoing health challenges.

✨ My non-negotiables (most days):

• Warm water with lemon, Celtic sea salt & a little raw honey
• 3 nourishing wholefood meals built around quality protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and plenty of fibre
• A wide variety of vegetables and 2–3 serves of seasonal fruit daily
• A collagen protein smoothie with activated almond milk, raw cacao, honey & banana
• Clean filtered water throughout the day
• Green tea with a medicinal mushroom blend for extra nourishment

✨ Lifestyle foundations I prioritise:

• Targeted, personalised supplements based on what my body needs right now
• Movement 5–6 days per week (yoga, beach walks barefoot, ocean swims)
• In bed by 9.30–10pm, asleep by 10–10.30pm
• Slow, gentle mornings with my boys whenever possible (a 1/2 hr snuggle in bed while waking up, I treasure this while it lasts)
• Daily meditation (15–30 minutes)
• Practising gratitude intentionally
• Living with purpose — as a naturopath, a mum, a partner and a friend

✨ Extra biohacks I’ve added this past year:
• PEMF therapy
• Red light therapy

There are always more things that could be done — but consistency beats complexity every time. These foundations support my energy, resilience and nervous system, and allow me to show up fully for my life.

I’m also stepping into a new chapter of my work — one that weaves together naturopathic medicine, emotional healing and quantum energy work. This approach is for those ready to go deeper.

Rethinking Cholesterol

Most people think cholesterol is either good or bad, but there’s a lot more to the story.

When I review blood tests, I’m not just looking at your total cholesterol number. What really matters is the balance between your HDL (the “good” cholesterol) and your triglycerides.

Ideally, your HDL should be higher than your triglycerides.
When that balance shifts, it can be an early sign of insulin resistance, long before blood sugar issues or metabolic symptoms appear.

Functional blood test analysis helps us see these early patterns and understand how your metabolism, hormones, and cardiovascular system are working together.

Because your blood work isn’t just about what’s high or low, it’s about what your body is trying to tell us.

And when we listen closely, we can prevent problems before they start.

Homocysteine is a blood marker that doesn't get a lot of attention, but it should!

It rarely gets tested because there’s no drug for it, but it’s one of the most valuable markers for heart and brain health.

It shows how your body uses B vitamins, detoxifies, and protects your blood vessels.

If it’s too high, we fix it naturally with targeted nutrition, not medication.

It's a simple test with big insights, that have an even bigger impact on your health. Ask me about it next time you are in clinic!

When you get a blood test with your doctor, they check if your results are in or out of range. It doesn't often go beyond that.

When you get a blood test with me, a Naturopath, I look at what’s really going on.

Patterns in your blood results can show what’s coming years before a diagnosis — like raised insulin that can appear 7–13 years before diabetes.

It’s not about treating overt disease; it’s about preventing it before it becomes disease.

Your blood work tells a story. Are you reading the whole thing?

Blood tests aren’t just about finding disease — they’re one of the most powerful windows into how your body is functioning every single day.

The difference lies in how we read them.
Instead of scanning for “red flags” and ticking boxes, I take a functional and holistic approach.

That means I’m looking for:

Patterns before problems — maybe your blood sugar is creeping up, or your thyroid is sluggish, even if you’re still “in range.”

Nutrient interactions — like how iron, B12, and folate work together to support energy and mood.

The why behind your symptoms — fatigue, headaches, anxiety, poor sleep — all of these can leave little “breadcrumbs” in your blood work.

Your body isn’t a collection of random numbers; it’s a connected system. When we put those pieces together, we can move from just managing symptoms to truly understanding what your body needs.

This is where functional analysis shines, it helps us catch imbalances early and build a plan to restore energy, balance hormones, support immunity, and keep you well long-term.

If you'd like your blood test read this way, please contact me today for an appointment!

Iron Studies – A Bigger Picture

When it comes to iron, most GPs will check your ferritin level and stop there. If it falls within the “normal” range, you’re often told everything is fine.

But iron health is so much more than one number.
As a naturopath, I look at the whole story your blood is telling:

Ferritin (your iron stores)

Serum iron (how much is circulating right now)

Transferrin saturation (how well iron is being transported)

Red blood cell health (how your body is actually using the iron)

Why does this matter? Because symptoms like low energy, brain fog, poor concentration, hair loss, or restless legs don’t always show up in ferritin alone. You could be told you’re “fine,” while your body is still struggling.

By looking at iron in context — and considering your diet, hormones, gut health, and overall wellbeing — we can uncover imbalances that might otherwise be missed.

That’s the difference between a standard check-up and a holistic analysis: instead of just asking “Is it in range?”, we ask “Is it optimal for YOU?”

Let's chat about blood tests.

When you get a blood test back from your GP, they’ll usually say everything looks “normal.” But what does normal actually mean?

Standard reference ranges on your blood tests are based on the average of people who don’t have chronic disease — but that doesn’t mean they’re thriving or in optimal health. Most average people in western society are not within healthy ranges of most parameters, so blood test ranges leave a lot to be desired.

As a naturopath, I look at blood tests differently than your GP. Instead of just checking if you fit inside a broad range, I assess whether your levels are optimal for energy, mood, hormones, and overall wellbeing.

Because you don’t just want to be fine or normal. You want to feel your best!

If you'd like to have your blood pathology assessed for optimal wellbeing, please get in touch with me via DM,

Your Genes give us a roadmap to creating vibrant health.

When it comes to health, there’s no one-size-fits-all. That’s why I offer Fitgenes DNA profiling, a way to understand your unique genetic drivers.

With over 200 genes analysed, we can see how your body handles things like nutrition, movement, detox, sleep, inflammation and more.

This isn’t about random plans or guesswork. It’s about using your personal genetic data, so the choices you make actually work with your body. This allows us to create the changes you are seeking in your health.

If you'd like to have your Fitgenes profile done please get in touch with me via DM,

Kirsty

What’s actually in a Fitgenes Health & Wellbeing Report?

If you’ve ever wondered what your DNA can tell you about your health, this report gives you so much more than numbers.

With over 200+ genes analysed, you’ll receive personalised insights into areas like:

âś… Inflammation and how your body manages it
âś… Vitamin D receptors and absorption
âś… Fat & cholesterol metabolism
âś… Cardiovascular health
âś… Cell defence and repair
✅ Methylation (your body’s detox & repair pathways)
… and so much more.

These aren’t random stats that leave you guessing, they’re actionable insights. You’ll discover how your body is wired, so you can make informed choices around diet, exercise, and supplements that are tailored to you (not a one-size-fits-all plan).

Think of it as a user manual for your health, helping move you from guesswork with your healthcare to precision.

If you are curious about how the Health & Wellbeing Bundle or the Mega Bundle could support you, please send me a DM and I’ll walk you through the options,

Kirsty
