Commercial customer in Malaga received large water bills through Winter with their retic turned off and couldn't work out why.

Unfortunately when the dial on their controller was turned off in Winter it didn't register the position and continued running at 3AM - which nobody noticed costing them a lot of money and wasted water.

Discovered this mess in Karrinyup. We will be returning to install a new master valve in the correct location; immediately after the isolation valve and backflow prevention. This setup has PVC under constant mains pressure, leaking prior to the master valve.

This master solenoid in Landsdale had failed due to age/wear and tear. It's important to note water quality has had/will have a negative impact. The brown stain that can be seen on the coil is from mains drinking water, this is more commonly seen on bores. Certain areas are quite bad, with Madeley and Landsdale frequently having this issue.

Arranged for Caporn Electrical to attend urgently and replace this faulty controller in Dianella that had a live 240V supply dangling outside the controller. It was also originally installed so tight to the meter box you couldn't properly open it. It now has a safe, working, accessible controller.

Left is (was) the isolation valve, right is an old master solenoid coil in a mass of roots. Suspect this has been leaking for months, maybe years unnoticed. Advised a plumber would first be required to install a cut in kit with backflow prevention, to allow us to then replace the master solenoid and reconnect the system.
