I am truly blessed with awesome patients.
They plan, we manage & they achieve these images & goals.
I personally haven't been to Mt. Macchu Picchu BUT i will (after the hip replacement this year).
Did You Know? The Secrets of Machu Picchu ๐ต๐ชโจ
Think you know everything about the "Lost City of the Incas"? Here are a few mind-blowing facts about this mountain marvel that might surprise you!
Itโs Earthquake-Proof: Peru is seismically active, but Machu Picchu has stood for centuries. The Incas used a technique called "ashlar masonry," where stones are cut to fit perfectly without mortar. When an earthquake hits, the stones "dance"โthey shake in place and then fall back into their original positions! ๐๏ธ๐
Most of the City is Underground: While we marvel at the ruins above, engineers estimate that 60% of the construction is actually underground. This includes a massive system of deep foundations and crushed rock drainage to handle heavy tropical rains and prevent the city from sliding off the mountain. ๐ง๏ธ๐๏ธ
Itโs Not the "Lost City": When Hiram Bingham arrived in 1911, he thought heโd found Vilcabamba, the secret stronghold where the Incas fled from the Spanish. We now know Vilcabamba was elsewhereโand that Machu Picchu was never actually "lost" to the locals who lived nearby! ๐บ๏ธ๐
No Wheels, No Iron, No Problem: The Incas built this entire complex at 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) without the use of wheels, iron tools, or even draft animals like horses or oxen. It was all done through pure human ingenuity and incredible community effort. ๐ช๐๏ธ
The Sun "Hitch": The Intihuatana stone is a precise astronomical clock. On the two equinoxes, the sun stands directly over the pillar, creating no shadow at all. The Incas used this to "hitch" the sun to the stone, ensuring its return and a successful harvest season. โ๏ธโณ
