Lately Ive become a bit of a guru when it comes to hips and hip pain. There is nothing like the knowledge of LIVED EXPERIENCE. I am about to take the next chapter in life and this the replacement of a hip. As a child I had Perthes Disease so I kind of know the hips in side & out. So Do you ever feel like your body parts just didn't get the memo on how to connect properly? 😂
Well, that's kind of like Hip Dysplasia! Imagine your hip joint is supposed to be a perfectly snug ball-and-socket connection, like that satisfying click when two LEGO bricks fit perfectly.
But with hip dysplasia, it's more like someone tried to fit a round peg into a slightly-too-shallow bowl, or maybe they just didn't quite push the LEGO bricks all the way together. 🤷♀️ The "ball" (top of your thigh bone) and the "socket" (part of your pelvis) just aren't hugging each other as tightly as they should.
This can mean the hip is a bit wobbly, unstable, or even prone to popping out. It's usually a "born with it" situation, where the joint didn't quite develop right. So, it's not a sudden break, but more of a "my parts came with some wonky wiring" kind of deal.
If your hips feel more like a loose toy than a sturdy joint, it might be worth getting them checked! 😉
(sort of!)
