GRIP STRENGTH

Research involving over 3 million people found that lower grip strength is linked to a higher risk of early death and cardiovascular disease.

In fact, grip strength can predict health outcomes as well as, or better than, some traditional markers.

Reference: Celis-Morales et al., “Associations of grip strength with disease and mortality outcomes”, BMJ (UK Biobank study, 500,000+ participants).

3 Moves to Wake Up Your Lower Body

Going straight to the heavy rack without a warmup is like trying to start a car in a blizzard—it’s noisy, painful, and something is bound to break.

If you want to move more weight and keep your knees from clicking try these three "primers" before your first working set.

1. The Glute Bridge 🍑
Focus: Waking up "sleepy" glutes and stabilizing the hips.

The Move: Lie on your back, feet flat. Drive through your heels to lift your hips.

Pro Tip: Squeeze at the top like you’re trying to hold a winning lottery ticket between your cheeks. No one wants to lose that ticket.

2. Side Lunges ↔️
Focus: Lateral mobility and opening up the adductors (inner thighs).

The Move: Take a wide step to the side, sinking your hips back while keeping the other leg bone-straight.

Pro Tip: Keep your chest up! You’re warming up for squats, not searching for a lost contact lens on the floor.

3. Bulgarian Split Squats (Bodyweight) 🪜
Focus: Unilateral stability and quad/glute activation.

The Move: One foot back on a bench, sink into a deep lunge.

Pro Tip: Yes, everyone hates these. That’s how you know they work. Doing them unweighted during your warmup helps you find your balance before you add the heavy dumbbells.

The Routine: Perform 2 rounds of 10–12 reps per movement. Your joints will thank you, and your PRs might actually show up today.

Which of these three do you have a "love-hate" relationship with? (We all know it's the Bulgarians... 😅)

Our acupuncture team has been busy this week! ✨

It’s been a high-energy week at the clinic, and we’ve loved seeing the range of ways acupuncture is helping our patients get back to feeling like themselves. If you’ve ever wondered what a "typical" week looks like for our acupuncturists, here are the three big areas we’ve been focusing on:

💩 IBS & Digestive Peace: We’ve been working with several patients to calm the "gut-brain" connection. By focusing on the nervous system, acupuncture helps move the body out of "fight or flight" and into "rest and digest," reducing bloating and unpredictability.

🧠 Headaches & Migraines: From tension headaches caused by "office neck" to chronic migraines, our needles have been busy releasing deep muscle tension and improving circulation to help our patients ditch the painkillers.

🌱 Fertility Support: It’s an honour to support those on their fertility journey. This week, our focus has been on improving blood flow to the reproductive organs and lowering cortisol levels to create a calm, receptive environment for the body.

Curious whether acupuncture can help you? Every body is different, and we love answering your "can this help with...?" questions.

📩 Contact us today to find out more or to book your initial consultation.

Curious as to the benefits of cupping? Cupping has been used for centuries as part of traditional chinese medicine. Cupping helps to pain relief, muscle relaxation, and improved blood circulation.

Cupping can be done via either suction cups or via heat. Either way its a great way to help reduce muscle tension and improve circulation.

You spend forty plus hours a week at a desk (or on planes) and then expect your body to perform like a pro athlete the moment you clip into your pedals or lace up your runners. Here is the thing. That persistent tightness in your lower back and the knot in your neck are not just signs of getting older. They are the physical cost of a high-pressure career that your current routine is not addressing.

In honor of the Chinese New Year, we are offering a 50 percent discount on your initial consultation and treatment. Get back to you feeling your best without the "rusty gate" feeling in your joints.
