Hey all 🙂
Very recently( just the last few days ) , there has been major changes in the guidelines of the management of asthma .
The summary is that , there is evidence now of the ‘ very limited role ‘ of the blue puffer : ventolin .
Recent guidelines that the mainstay of management of day to day symptoms of asthma is : a puffer that has inhaled corticosteroid + a long acting bronchodilator ( which is the long acting version of ventolin ) .
This even applies if you are someone who just uses Ventolin ‘ the blue puffer ‘ very occasionally to manage asthma symptoms .
So the summary is : if you own a blue puffer that you use regularly or occasionally for asthma symptoms , please go and see your GP and discuss the above . ( this applies for adolescents and adults ) .
Hope that helps , and stay warm everyone ( as somehow we seem to be back in winter ❄️ 🥶 )
Please share and tag others whom this might benefit.
