🦺 World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Recognised by the United Nations and led by the International Labour Organization, today is about raising awareness of workplace safety and preventing injuries, illness and harm.

It’s also a day to remember those affected by workplace incidents and to reinforce the importance of building a strong safety culture everywhere we work.

šŸŒ As the world of work evolves, from new technologies to changing environments, our approach to safety must evolve too.

šŸ’” Simple ways to make a difference:
• Follow workplace safety procedures
• Look after your physical and mental health
• Speak up about risks or hazards
• Support a culture where safety comes first

Because everyone deserves a safe and healthy workplace every day. ā¤ļø

A little support goes a long way šŸ’›šŸ’‰

This World Immunisation Week, we’re highlighting simple ways to help children feel safe, calm and supported during their vaccinations.

Vaccines protect against serious illness and with the right support, the experience can be a lot easier for little ones too.

Here are a few helpful tips for parents and carers:

• Inform: Explain what’s happening in a calm, simple way
• Hold close: Comfort them with a cuddle or gentle reassurance
• Distract: Bring a toy, tell a story or take deep breaths together
• Comfort: Offer praise, smiles and reassurance
• Pay attention: Keep an eye on them afterwards and check in if needed

A quick moment of discomfort can lead to a lifetime of protection.

If you have any questions about your child’s vaccinations, speak with your healthcare provider.

Yesterday was World Health Day, 7th April 2026.

And we’re standing with science šŸ§¬šŸŒ

Because every healthy future starts with facts, not misinformation.

From supporting health workers and researchers, to choosing evidence-based information and making informed decisions for ourselves and our families, science protects us when we stand with it.

This year’s theme, ā€œTogether for health. Stand with science,ā€ is a global call to trust evidence, rebuild confidence in public health, and support science-led solutions that protect lives.

Let’s choose facts.ļæ½Let’s share knowledge.ļæ½Let’s stand with science, together.

Most people don’t realise the early signs of diabetes šŸ‘‡

Type 2 diabetes can develop gradually, and symptoms are often easy to miss or brush off.

Some early signs to look out for:
• Feeling tired more than usual
• Increased thirst
• Going to the bathroom more often
• Blurred vision
• Slow healing cuts or frequent infections

It’s easy to put these down to a busy lifestyle, but they can be your body trying to tell you something.

šŸ’” If you’ve noticed ongoing changes, it’s worth getting checked.

Today is World Sleep Day, a global awareness day focused on the importance of healthy sleep.

Sleep plays a vital role in overall health, supporting brain function, mood, immunity and heart health. Despite this, many people regularly experience poor sleep or don’t get enough rest.

Adults should aim for 7–9 hours of sleep each night to support optimal health and wellbeing.

If ongoing sleep problems are affecting your daily life, consider speaking with your GP.

If you’re regularly feeling tired, struggling to fall asleep, or waking up throughout the night, it may be worth discussing with your GP.
