Practical, applied and embodied practices to nourish creativity and change, letting the light back into your life.
I create a sanctuary that gives you permission to play, no need to measure up or produce an outcome, a space where you can access the wisdom of your body.
If you want to change some things, then you need to change some things.
The trick, to making lasting change, is to find the tension point between your comfort zone and the challenges that raise you up from that zone, into new experiences and skills.
Play and change
Play helps you move beyond your patterned way of being, out of your comfort zone, and into a place of creativity. Play enables you to explore and learn with confidence, optimism and curiosity, leading you home into your own wisdom, in your own precious body.
Embodied Play allows more healthy, authentic patterns and rhythms to emerge. This flows through to nurture relationships, lights up your friendships, family and work life, and helps you to realise your talents and connect with community.
What I offer:
Embodied Play is designed in collaboration with you and may draw upon any of the following elements that appeal to you:
Creative art to break through belief systems that you are ‘not creative ’. Therapeutic techniques to explore emotions, pain, happiness and mind moods through clay, sand play, paint, textas, charcoal and photography.
Floor or chair movement that calms the nervous system, helping you discover a quieter place inside your own body. Deeply grounding, easing physical and emotional tension.
Yoga inspired movement/free flow dance. Quiet the mind and listen to the inner dance. Do you enjoy yoga but want more freedom to move intuitively? Are you carrying injuries or chronic conditions that limit your yoga practice? This practice is based around listening to the body, allowing, opening and creating space within. Through conscious dance, and yoga informed poses, we can explore the unresolved parts of our day that get filed away, integrating body awareness to change habitual patterns of holding, resisting and movement imbalances.
Sound therapy and bodywork. Floor based bodywork exploring sound, breath and muscle impulse. This non-verbal technique bypasses the thinking mind, accessing the unknown parts of the self. This unconscious self is often behind outbursts or unwanted thoughts or behaviors but cannot be expressed in words. These sensations and feelings cannot be processed by the frontal lobe, our fear and flight mechanisms keeping them locked in the primal part of the brain. Releasing these energetic impulses dissolves and resolves many unhelpful patterns.
Meta physical interpretation of physical symptoms, emotional anatomy assessments and pain management techniques I have learned, through various trainings, provide insight and tools to understand and work with your body.
Embodied walking in nature. Forest bathing. Contemplative practice of walking, truly seeing the beauty of nature and interpretation of the messages from the birds and wildlife that visit.
I have trained at Certificate level in Holistic Human Development, Meditation Teaching, Chair Yoga and Holistic Counselling, Emotional Anatomy Assessment, Foundations of Arts and Health (UTAS) and draw on an extensive bank of experience from previous careers and many years of yoga and exploration of the body/mind connection.
I strongly encourage my clients to seek support from qualified practitioners and my techniques compliment treatments and therapies prescribed by your GP, medical specialist or professional therapist.
I weave and collaborate in community recommending therapists and professionals whose skills I have personally benefited from. Massage therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, energy healers, yoga teachers, general medical practitioners and specialists, I can provide recommendations based on experience.
‘Come play with me...dance, art, movement, connection, deep listening, a sanctuary.’
