And that’s a wrap on 2025.
Speculums down, screens off, bras optional, cocktails mandatory.

Womens health.
It’s a tough gig.
But we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

We are here for the highs and the heartbreaks. We speak up. We say the quiet bits out loud. We advocate like hell for women’s health because it matters, and because our community deserves better. This year we’ve cried, sworn, belly-laughed, hugged, raged, and gone all in. We’ve been on the radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, podcasts - basically everywhere except Real Housewives (yet).

And somehow, in amongst all that, we were not just seen but heard, and our state government is helping us grow this Bubble into a clinic like no other. Same feminist rage. Same passion. Bigger Bubble. Let’s go!

To every person who trusted us with their story, their body, their fears, their joy — thank you. And to everyone who has backed us, championed us, referred to us, followed along, or cheered from the sidelines — we see you (Seriously! We see every like/ follow/ view/ comment - THANK YOU! LOVE U BABES!). It is a genuine honour to do this work, and not a single person on this team takes that lightly. It’s ride or die ladies!

Now we’re going to finish the day, close the doors, and get some bloody rest.

Because 2026?
Yeah. It’s going to be fire.

✌🏽

Tis’ the season for unplanned pregnancy 🍆

Contraception: what’s your preference?
(ok we are stopping there - google is giving us some very rude contraceptive slang 🙈)

Did you know 40% of pregnancies worldwide are unplanned? 💦

1 in 4 Australian women experience an unintended pregnancy🤰🏼

If you are having ‘the seggs’ 👉🏼👌🏽in a heterosexual relationship 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏻 and neither you or your partner are using contraception then you could actually make a human baby 🤯

If you don’t want babies then you NEED reliable contraception.

Are you as ready for Christmas as Dr Amanda?

Our last day at both clinics will be THIS FRIDAY (Dec 19th)! If you need scripts please don’t leave requests until Friday. We will reopen on Monday, 5th January.

It’s starting to feel like Christmas and we are here for it! ♥️🎄

Sooo… what actually happens during a pelvic floor exam with one of our pelvic floor physio’s? 👇🏼 (sorry Hobart, this service is only available in our Launceston clinic)

If you’re imagining stirrups, bright lights, and awkward silence — don’t worry, it’s nothing like that with us.

A pelvic floor assessment with a pelvic floor physio is all about understanding your body in a safe, respectful, and low-pressure space.

Step 1: We chat. We’ll talk about what brought you in — leaking, pain, heaviness, weird core stuff — nothing’s too TMI, promise. We’ll cover your health history, lifestyle, and what goals you’ve got (like sneezing without 💦).

Step 2: External assessment. This might include posture, breathing, tummy and hip strength, and even how you move. Sometimes we look at the outside pelvic area to check for tension or coordination — clothes on or off, based on what’s being assessed and what you’re comfy with.

Step 3: Internal exam (if you’re cool with it). Totally optional, fully consented, and no scary tools involved — just a gloved finger to assess how your pelvic floor muscles are working (strength, tone, coordination, etc.). It gives us super useful info, but you always get to choose what happens.

Step 4: Plan time. We go over what we found and map out a game plan — that might include exercises, hands-on treatment, education, and tips to support your pelvic health every day (yes, even when you’re binge-watching Netflix).

Most people walk out saying, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?”. It might just change the way you feel in your body — for the better whether you’re dealing with leaks, pain, pressure, or just want to understand your pelvic health better!

This is one of our most recent doctors to join the gang up north! She really is one of the nicest doctors you’ll ever meet and we are just so thankful she decided to join us.

Dr Dani Payne
MBBS (hons), FRACGP, CertWH

Dr Dani grew up in Launceston before moving to Melbourne to complete her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Monash University.  After several years working in Victoria—during which she attained a Certificate in Women’s Health from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists—she returned to Tasmania to achieve her Fellowship in General Practice.

Following her fellowship, Dani worked in the Emergency Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital before travelling throughout Tasmania and across Australia to provide care in areas of medical shortage. Her experience spans urgent care clinics in Alice Springs and Bunbury, remote Indigenous community health services in the Gulf of Carpentaria as well as a clinic on Kangaroo Island.

In 2022, Dani completed the Family Planning Alliance Australia Certificate in Sexual & Reproductive Health. She is passionate about supporting women to make informed choices about their health and provides thoughtful, holistic, and high-quality care throughout each stage of life.

Outside of medicine, Dani enjoys exploring Tasmania’s bushwalks and scuba diving in her spare time.

Welcome Dani! Can’t wait to get you on some of our silly IG reels 😆

Perineal massage is a gentle technique that stretches the skin and tissues between the v@gina and a**s (the perineum) to help prepare for childbirth and support postpartum recovery.

If you’ve had a previous v@ginal birth, perineal massage won’t reduce birth trauma but it can help reduce perineal pain at 3 months postpartum.

When to Start:
✔ Begin at 34–35 weeks of pregnancy
✔ 1–2 times per week, max 5 min per session

How It’s Done:
👉🏻Use 1–2 lubricated fingers (or thumbs)
👉🏻Insert ~5 cm into the v@gina
👉🏻Apply gentle pressure downwards and sideways until a slight tingling or burning is felt
👉🏻Hold stretch ~2 minutes, reposition, repeat
Can be done seated, lying, or standing—whatever feels comfortable
👉🏻Use your preferred lubricant (we have stocked in clinic)

Important Contraindications 🚫
Do not perform perineal massage if you have:
-Less than 34 weeks’ gestation
-Cervical shortening
-Placenta praevia or vaginal bleeding in the second half of pregnancy
-Severe blood pressure problems
-Active vaginal infection (herpes, thrush)

Tips:
☑️More than 1–2 times per week won’t help and may reduce benefits
☑️Some discomfort is normal at first
☑️Perineal massage is simple, safe for most women, and can make postpartum recovery a little easier!

When your doctor, psychologist, physio or dietitian has to reschedule because they are unwell (or their child is)… trust us — they’ve agonised over that decision.
They know it disrupts your day. They know our admin team now has to reshuffle the universe.

It is always the absolute last resort.

But when our team calls in sick, we’re proud of them.
It means they’re not pushing through.
Not edging toward burnout.
Not putting everyone else ahead of themselves…again.

We’ve literally sent staff home mid-shift when it’s clear they shouldn’t be at work. We hope it shows our values loud and clear: rest is allowed. Rest is necessary. Rest is healthy.

Our patients get it, because you’re human too.
Women especially push on at the expense of their own health.

So this is your reminder:
If you need the day… take the day.

It’s a common question: “Can I still fall pregnant in my late 40s or 50s?” The answer is yes — though fertility is naturally declining, pregnancy can still happen until menopause is complete (that’s 12 months without a period).

The challenge is that ovulation becomes unpredictable during perimenopause — so while fertility is lower, it’s not zero.

If pregnancy isn’t part of your plan, reliable contraception is still recommended until menopause is confirmed.

Don’t risk it.

“Pulling out” might seem simple. No hormones, no fuss. But it’s one of the least reliable contraceptive methods out there.

Why? Because pre-ejaculate can contain s***m, timing isn’t perfect, and life happens. If avoiding pregnancy matters to you, there are safer, lower-stress options: pills, IUDs, implants, rings, condoms, vasectomy, tubal ligation…

So if you’re tired of playing pregnancy roulette, maybe it’s time to talk real contraception. Because good s€x shouldn’t come with an anxiety attack.
