“This was a bittersweet moment for the family, but the local building community has played a huge role in making Thomas’ dream for his daughter come true."

We're proud to share that our team have successfully delivered a cubby house to 4 year-old Hannah, in support of her father and palliative care patient Thomas' one wish.

Melwood Ward clerk Leonie was so passionate to see the wish come true, she contacted Member for Bass Rob Fairs, who set about making the cubby house a reality.

Hannah’s dream cubby house was craned on to Thomas’s in-laws’ property at Nile, south of Launceston, last Thursday, with Thomas, in the care of Dr Emma Smyth and Ms Sutherland, watching on.

Thank you to Tas City Building, Clennett's Mitre 10, and Cranes Combined for their efforts on the construction side of things.

Congratulations to our orthopaedic surgical team performing a milestone 1000th robotic-assisted procedure.

Calvary first embraced robotic-assisted surgery at the hospital in Launceston in 2022 and installed a second in mid-2024, increasing access and reducing wait-times for this type of surgery. The system uses 3D virtual modelling and other technologies to help surgeons plan and tailor operations to the patient’s individual anatomy, while the guided robotic arm enables precision cuts.

Our highly skilled and experienced team of surgeons, theatre nurses and other perioperative staff reached the milestone during a week performing a record 37 joint replacements using both robotic and non-assisted surgical techniques.

Introducing you to our 'Monthly Random Acts of Staff Appreciation Day'program, where each month we find a way to give back to our staff for all the incredible work they do to care for their patients.

This month, our chosen theme was ANZAC Day where we handed around some biscuits and a complimentary card which entitled staff to one small hot drink from the hospital cafe. A special treat that was enjoyed by all.
