What is holistic counselling?
A holistic counsellor is someone who supports emotional and mental wellbeing by looking at the whole person — not just symptoms or problems in isolation. Instead of focusing only on thoughts and behaviours (like traditional talk therapy might), a holistic counsellor considers mind, body, emotions, lifestyle, energy, and spirit as interconnected.
Key principles of holistic counselling:
👉Mind–body connection: Emotional distress can show up physically, and vice versa.
👉Lifestyle matters: Sleep, nutrition, relationships, stress levels, and purpose all play a role.
👉Client-led & empowering: The goal is often to help clients connect with their inner wisdom, values, and strengths.
👉Integrative approach: Blends techniques from counselling, mindfulness, breathwork, energy work, meditation, or coaching.
Common issues people see holistic counsellors for:
💠Anxiety, stress, or burnout
💠Life transitions or identity issues
💠Low self-worth or self-doubt
💠Grief and emotional overwhelm
💠A desire for more meaning, alignment, or balance
