Protecting Little Lungs This Winter:
RSV Immunisation Updates 🫁

From 1 April 2025, a state-funded RSV immunisation will be available for eligible infants entering their first RSV season.

Who is eligible?

🚼 Infants born from 1 October 2024 and aged under 8 months, who:
✔️ Did not receive maternal RSV vaccination during pregnancy
✔️ Were born less than 2 weeks after their mother’s RSV vaccination
✔️ Are at increased risk of severe RSV, regardless of maternal vaccination status

Protecting Through Pregnancy

To protect babies before birth, all pregnant women from 28 weeks are now strongly recommended to receive the state funded RSV vaccine (Abrysvo).

✅ Provides passive immunity—babies are considered protected if vaccinated at least 2 weeks before delivery.

We would be lost without them!!

🤰Are you pregnant or planning pregnancy?

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) can be serious, especially for young babies who can have trouble breathing and can get very sick.

RSV vaccination in pregnancy protects your baby from the time they are born.

🗓️ From 3 February 2025, RSV vaccine Abrsyvo will be funded under the National Immunisation Program.

RSV vaccination is recommended from 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Vaccination at least two weeks before birth will provide best protection to your infant.

Those in late pregnancy should book in for a free* RSV vaccination now.

We would like to welcome Dr Mahdi Vakili to the Windmill Hill Team 🩺

Dr Mahdi is a dedicated general practitioner with over 17 years of experience in both Iran and Australia. He graduated from medical school in Iran in 2005 and worked as a GP until moving to Australia in 2019 with his family. Since 2022, he has been practicing in Tasmania providing comprehensive and patient centered care.

Dr Mahdi has particular interest in chronic disease management, musculoskeletal health, men’s health and elderly care.

He can speak both English and Farsi and outside of work enjoys spending time with his family and friends and being active.
He will be working Mondays and Thursdays!

We can not wait for you all to meet him.
