Improving care for our tiniest patients starts with giving clinicians the very best training tools. Thanks to a $50,000 donation by local business, Richardson's Harley-Davidson, our Women’s and Children’s Services at the LGH will now be equipped with Baby Emma and Baby Emily—full-term newborn simulation mannequins that will significantly enhance staff training and preparedness.
These high-fidelity mannequins allow teams in the Special Care Nursery to practise modern, evidence-based care in areas such as neonatal resuscitation, respiratory support and infection control. Simulation training is proven to strengthen clinical decision-making, judgement and confidence, particularly in high-risk neonatal scenarios, while providing a safe, risk-free environment to practise rare or complex procedures.
This important equipment has been made possible through the incredible efforts of our friends at Richardson's Harley-Davidson, who raised the funds through their annual charity raffle to support the vital extras for Women’s and Children’s Services that sit outside government funding.
Our sincere thanks to their team and everyone who supported the raffle. Your dedication is helping ensure the highest standard of care for newborn babies and their families in Northern Tasmania.
