Brads Wood Fine woodworking, Historical timber windows and doors, timber gifts and joinery, window repair, re-g Craftsmanship, durability, aesthetics, form and function.

I have 8 years experience in the Building and Construction Industry working with concrete, steel and building a handful of houses. I discovered one day that I have a deep rooted love for wood working and design and the methods and tools used hundreds of years ago
I have embarked on a journey on collecting and restoring old handtools and learning the old methods from experienced craftsmen.

My furniture is first designed in my mind and then recorded to paper then built using plans and measurements that are in my head.

Our ever evolving outlook towards the consequences that disposable consumerism and big worldwide companies that promote cheap, expensive products that end their life in landfill and the extremely harmful VOC's (volatile organic compound) which are dangerous to our health and are released into our homes, atmosphere and cause short and long term health problems.

Our Inspiration comes from historical motto of "make it to last" and thats what we strive for. With these design elements its impossible to make "throw away furniture". Japanese, English and Scandinavian styles and methods of joinery are definite influences in my work for their simplicity to the eye, the history and romance that are associated with those eras

The rabbit hole.
Thanks for putting this together. for sharing this 🙏
“It’s just something I don’t need to worry about “ is not even worth the headspace to think that.
This will be felt by all and these parasites have a higher mortality rate than coviac 19.

Hi folks.
It’s been a while since posting.
It’s been a while since even building a window!
But all with good news.

In the last 10 weeks I have learned to work neater, cleaner and more organised.
I’ve learned how to relay stones and point with lime mortar.
Learned to research harder, learned about timber treatments, learned how stone walls get pushed straight, physics of how cracks in masonry work can often be caused by the roof structure and not the foundation and the tell tale signs, how to hang French doors so they are millimeter perfect and work well (3 x stuff ups to learn though) and that no matter what, always work so the problem is fixed or so they don’t arise. Build a legacy not a 10 year pile of turd or even a 50 year one but a for 100-150-200 just like our ancestors did.

All this because I decided to shut shop and work for a heritage restoration company in Launceston so I could learn under tutelage not researching every single night and still be unsure of whether it was correct or not.

Take care and watch this space.......

As a person who down right refuses vaksinations, medication or concoctions have often wondered why so many put so much faith in science, scientists, doctors, Organisations and governments.
For myself, I don’t trust everything that doctors, professionals, or organisations say or recommend.
After reading some stories about human experimentations conducted by the US government and military, I think that mistrust is well founded.
Although, maybe it’s far more regulated (I doubt) the powers that be can still conduct a “cover up”. Also, human nature still seems to have the same weaknesses as it did when these experiments were conducted.

Got roped in to help a mate out at an old, school dairy his grandad helped build when he was a student.
Pretty cool, they made the concrete bricks themselves, in a mould. 🤙🏼 we had to make 2 doors, 3 windows, refurbish an existing door and swung an old king billy pine 4 panel door to replace the original one.
3 days from start to finish 🤙🏼 .heyes

The little sash family is off to their new home with grandad sash.
A life lesson. Look to the ones who have gone before and learn from their triumphs, mistakes and reasons to improve upon and restore the work they did and to become better at your own work so that it may last longer than your lifetime.
Don’t let the Friday afternoon rush get to you....ever. 🙏

Dilston window restoration ☺️ aren’t the 6 lite windows gorgeous? We use traditional mortise and tenon joinery with a timber peg to hold everything until the glue dries. This allows for fewer clamps, less downtime and a quicker process so we can get them to you in a shorter time frame without compromising quality.
