One year with Janelle Catana Remedial Massage under the In-Balance roof! 🧖‍♀️

We feel incredibly lucky to have Janelle as part of the clinic. Her skilled hands, thoughtful care, and radiant presence have helped so many of our clients leave their sessions feeling relaxed, relieved, and very content.

We’re also grateful that she braved the chilly Tassie seasons and decided to put down roots here, becoming part of our wonderful local community.

Here’s to the past year of supporting our clients together, and to many more years ahead of seeing happy faces walk out after a session with you, Janelle. We’re so glad you’re part of the In-Balance family. 🧡

Make sure you lock in an appointment with Janelle via our website (she’s a busy girl, so get to it!)

We’re excited to welcome Keely Froling back to the team!

After finishing her recent season with the Sydney Flames, Keely has now signed with the for the upcoming NBL1 season. Alongside her basketball commitments, she’ll also be back working with us in the clinic.

Keely enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, but she has a particular interest in sports-related injuries and rehabilitation. With her background in elite basketball, she has developed a strong interest in knee and ankle injuries — something she has seen plenty of throughout her playing career.

Her firsthand experience as a high-level athlete gives her a great understanding of the rehab process and what it takes to return to sport safely and confidently.

📅 Keely’s diary is now open for bookings from March 30. If you’ve been dealing with an injury or are looking for support with rehab or performance, she would love to help.

Welcome back, Keely! 👏

Before you stretch it.
Before you brace against it.
Before you try to “fix” it.

Try this.

One minute.
No doing.

Sit or lie down.
Notice the area of tension.
Instead of calling it “my bad back,” describe the sensation — pulsing, tight, heavy, warm.

Then silently say:
“You can be here. I’m not trying to change you right now.”

If the bracing softens even 1% —
that’s your nervous system beginning to regulate.

Relief requires safety.
And safety can be trained.

If you’ve hit a wall with traditional treatment, it may be time to look at the “why” behind the “where.”

If you haven't yet, read Emily's blog to explore more! Link in bio.

What years of dedication can lead to 🙌

We started with a simple goal: reducing falls.
Now? The goal is to run.

Running isn’t just “go faster.” It’s a complex combination of leg drive, trunk control, arm swing, balance and timing — all working together. For someone with a neurological condition, bringing those elements together can take patience, persistence and a whole lot of courage.

Many people assume that if movement looks different, certain goals aren’t possible. Chris continues to show that progress isn’t about perfection — it’s about perseverance.

This is one of many steps on the path toward independent, safe and confident running — and we couldn’t be happier 👏

Pain isn’t always about damage.

It’s often about protection.

Think of pain like a smoke alarm.
It’s designed to alert you to danger.

But sometimes the alarm becomes overly sensitive —
ringing for burnt toast instead of a house fire.

When stress is high…
When you feel isolated…
When life feels chaotic…

Your nervous system turns up the volume.

Movement starts to feel “dangerous” — even when tissues are safe.

Continuing with her latest blog, Emily Jones explains:
• Why persistent pain is linked to nervous system sensitivity
• How stress influences physical symptoms
• What pain relief actually requires

This isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about helping your system feel safe again.

Your pain is real. Full stop.

It’s not “in your head.”
You’re not overreacting.
You’re not weak.

Pain is a physiological response from your nervous system — not a character flaw.

Have you ever noticed:
• Your neck tightens during stressful weeks
• Old injuries flare when life feels overwhelming
• Headaches arrive after emotional overload

That’s the mind-body connection at work.

Not psychological.
Physiological.

Our physio Emily Jones explores this in her latest blog:
Exploring the Mind-Body Connection: A Holistic Path Towards Healing

If you’ve been stuck in a cycle of flare-ups, this is worth a read.

A little throwback from a team catch up, and a long overdue post 🧡

We’re saying a heartfelt farewell to our beautiful Exercise Physiologist, Brooke.

Brooke has truly been a ray of sunshine! Bringing warmth, encouragement and an incredible passion for helping people move well. Whether through her EP sessions or guiding clients in Pilates, she has always shown up with genuine care and a deep commitment to supporting every body in front of her.

We have so appreciated the time she’s spent at In-Balance, but even more than that, we appreciate and celebrate this next phase of life for her.

Brooke, thank you for sharing your light with us. You will always be part of the In-Balance family 🥂

He’s back 👋

Roland is returning to In-Balance next week and his diary is officially open!

With a special interest in shoulders, vertigo, concussion and sporting injuries (especially climbing 🧗‍♂️), Roland loves helping people get back to what they enjoy most.

🎥 As a little gift to his fellow climbers (and anyone whose shoulders need some love), here’s some of his go-to shoulder warm ups.

If your shoulders have been talking to you lately… this is your sign.

✨ Wow… 20 years of In-Balance! 🧡🥂 ✨

We’re feeling incredibly grateful after a beautiful write-up in The Examiner celebrating In-Balance turning 20 next month.

The biggest shout-outs go to Natalie for the original vision and conception, to the many amazing team members who have grown and evolved with us over the past two decades, and we absolutely wouldn’t be here without our the local community and loyal clients who have walked through our doors and trusted us to journey alongside them.

Today, we’re proud to see Scott and Michelle continuing to lead In-Balance forward — honouring the legacy that’s been built while shaping the next chapter with the same care, passion and heart.

💬 We’d love to hear from you:
