You may be asked when visiting the practice, if you would like to register in the MyMedicare Program.

What is MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is a voluntary program introduced by the Australian Government to help improve healthcare outcomes by strengthening the relationship between patients and their regular GP and primary care team.
When you register for MyMedicare, you officially nominate your preferred GP and healthcare practice. This allows your GP to provide you with more personalised, continuous, and proactive care, especially over the long term.

By registering with MyMedicare, you’ll enjoy:
✅ Better continuity of care
✅ Access to longer telehealth consultations
✅ More personalised, proactive support – especially for aged care residents
✅ Encouragement to build a strong, ongoing relationship with your GP.

Who is eligible?
You can register if you have:
✔️ A Medicare card
✔️ OR a Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) Veteran card

How to register:
1️⃣ Make sure you have a valid Medicare or DVA card
2️⃣ Talk to your GP or our clinic staff
3️⃣ Register easily via your Medicare online account on myGov or in-person at our practice!

☀️ Parkrun Fun! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Some of our team from Norwood Medical Centre took part in the local Parkrun on Saturday — and we had an amazing time! It was great to get out in the sunshine, stretch our legs, and enjoy connecting with others in the community.

A big thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the morning so enjoyable — here’s to many more runs (and smiles) ahead! 😊👏

🎗️ Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October 🎗️

Every October, we come together to shine a powerful light on a disease that has touched the lives of millions around the world - breast cancer.

This month isn't just about wearing pink. It's about raising awareness, honouring the fighters and survivors, remembering those we've lost, and uniting in the hope for a future without this disease.

Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate. It affects mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and even men.

We recognise the struggles, the fear, the fatigue, the scars both visible and invisible. But in the face of adversity, we also see incredible courage, resilience, and hope.

Every mammogram, every self-exam, every honest conversation, it all matters. Early detection saves lives, and awareness is the first step in making that possible. Let this month be a reminder to take action, care for yourself and your loved ones, and support research and resources that make a real difference.

Let October be a time not only of awareness, but of action, compassion, and connection.

R U OK? Day

Today is R U OK? Day – a powerful reminder to check in on the people around us and start a conversation that could change a life.

At Norwood Medical Centre, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. We know that life’s challenges don’t always show on the outside – and sometimes, the people who seem the strongest are the ones who need the most support.

This year’s message is simple: "A conversation could change a life."
You don’t need to be a doctor, a psychologist, or an expert. You just need to be someone who cares, by asking, “Are you OK?”, and really listening to the answer, you can help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone.

Here’s how you can start:
1. Ask: “R U OK?”
2. Listen without judgment.
3. Encourage action – whether that’s talking to a friend, a GP, or a mental health professional.
4. Check in again soon.

Please remember – if you’re not feeling OK yourself, it’s more than OK to reach out for help. You’re never alone, and support is always available.
