What’s REALLY in your food? . . . and why it absolutely does MATTER!

We’re seeing more and more low-grade inflammation in the body . . .
Bloating, fatigue, brain fog, hormone issues, gut problems, it’s becoming normal… but it’s not!

A big piece of the puzzle?. . .

👉 How is it processed? (chemicals which are used in the production process do not have to be disclosed in the ingredient list).

After diving into the work of Cyndi O’Meara (Changing Habits), her documentary "What’s With Wheat" and her book "Lab to Table"… it really makes you stop and re think what’s on your plate?

🥴 The problem with “natural” food labels -

words like. . .

• natural flavourings

• natural colourings

• rosemary extract

Sound harmless. . . RIGHT?

👉 But “natural” has no strict definition

👉 These can still be highly processed, chemically altered ingredients. . .

Example. . .
“Rosemary extract” isn’t the herb from your garden 🌱
It’s often isolated compounds, processed and stabilised with other additives.

🧪 Food is becoming more. . . lab-made than farm-grown

We’re now in an age of bio technology where. . .

Microorganisms (like yeast and mould) are genetically modified. . . they’re used to produce additives like citric acid, flavours, thickeners. . .
these are then added into everyday foods. . .
👉 And still labelled in ways that sound familiar and safe.

⚠️ Why this matters for your body?

These ultra-processed ingredients can. . .

• Disrupt gut health → dysbiosis

Nope… not if we feed our tummies right, stress a little less & MOVE more!

Most people know fruits and veggies are healthy but fewer realise some commonly eaten produce can carry higher pesticide residues. These chemicals can act as endocrine disruptors, interfering with hormone signals in the body. Over time that can show up as fatigue, brain fog, stubborn weight gain, low energy, poor sleep or mood swings. 😬

That’s why I love supporting local businesses who actually care and source beautiful produce...
And don’t forget friends who grow their own veg – whether it’s swapping produce or purchasing veggie boxes, it’s always great to know exactly where your food comes from.

*Fibre is absolute fuel. It feeds the good guys in our tummies and is a beautiful sweeper… getting things moving. 💩 Adults should aim for around 25–35g of fibre per day but most of us don’t even reach that minimal amount!

Eat the rainbow! The more variety you include the more diverse your microbiome becomes – and that diversity is absolute magic. 🌈

Oils matter too! Cheap vegetable oils are in pretty much everything processed... dressings, plant based milks, chips, biscuits, especially soybean oil – and they can be highly inflammatory... and we eat them daily without even realising! Stick with cold-pressed extra virgin Australian olive oil and make simple homemade dressings instead. 🫒

More fibre
Less inflammation
