What’s REALLY in your food? . . . and why it absolutely does MATTER!
We’re seeing more and more low-grade inflammation in the body . . .
Bloating, fatigue, brain fog, hormone issues, gut problems, it’s becoming normal… but it’s not!

👉 How is it processed? (chemicals which are used in the production process do not have to be disclosed in the ingredient list).
After diving into the work of Cyndi O’Meara (Changing Habits), her documentary "What’s With Wheat" and her book "Lab to Table"… it really makes you stop and re think what’s on your plate?

🥴 The problem with “natural” food labels -
words like. . .
• natural flavourings
• natural colourings
• rosemary extract
Sound harmless. . . RIGHT?
👉 But “natural” has no strict definition
👉 These can still be highly processed, chemically altered ingredients. . .
Example. . .
“Rosemary extract” isn’t the herb from your garden 🌱
It’s often isolated compounds, processed and stabilised with other additives.
🧪 Food is becoming more. . . lab-made than farm-grown
We’re now in an age of bio technology where. . .
Microorganisms (like yeast and mould) are genetically modified. . . they’re used to produce additives like citric acid, flavours, thickeners. . .
these are then added into everyday foods. . .
👉 And still labelled in ways that sound familiar and safe.
⚠️ Why this matters for your body?
These ultra-processed ingredients can. . .
• Disrupt gut health → dysbiosis
• Increase gut permeability (“leaky gut”)
• Trigger ongoing low-grade inflammation
• Impact hormones, mood and energy
And the kicker. . .
👉 Most ingredients are tested in isolation, not in combination like we consume them daily.
🥩 Even “healthy” or trendy foods aren’t immune. . .
• Packaged “health foods”
• Fake meats
• Protein snacks
• Flavoured yoghurts
👉 Often full of additives, isolates and lab-made compounds.
🌾 Even wheat isn’t what it used to be. . .

• Modern wheat is highly hybridised
• Often sprayed with chemicals like glyphosate
• Far removed from traditional, ancestral grains
💛 So what can you do? (simple + powerful)
Start with this . . .
• Flip your food over → read the ingredient list (not just calories)
• Choose foods with ingredients you recognise
• Buy local where possible
• Cook more meals from single-ingredient foods
• Support farmers who actually care about soil and quality
🌱 Real food doesn’t need a label
Think. . .
• Fresh fruit and veg 🥕
• Quality meat and eggs 🥚
• Nuts, seeds, grains 🌾
• Healthy fats 🥑
👉 Food that your body recognises.
At the end of the day this isn’t about fear - it’s about awareness!
The more we understand what’s really going into our food the more we can reduce inflammation, support our gut and feel like ourselves again!
