She is known for her work in counselling and training for grief and loss and psychological abuse /bullying and in now providing this knowledge through children's books and on line training for adults. Jane teaches resilience through a tree. About Jane:
A number of years ago Jane lived in Central Australia. She was based in Alice Springs and a remote location working a variety of roles for 30 years. During this time she worked with diverse groups of people. Her work involved devising and implementing strategies to meet the needs of these people. It became obvious that for many people coping with various forms of grief was a major issue, this reflected on the well-being of all in the region. Young children coping with Covid and other losses...................
Teaching young children how to normalise changes, challenges and learning resilience can be tricky even knowing where to start can cause concerns for some adults.
If you or a friend is going through this there is a short interactive online course with small numbers commencing 5th January 2022.
This is a short supportive zoom course for 3 weeks plus zoom group weekly catch ups to help parents teach their young children about communication skills and lessons about change, challenges and losses so that they will come to you when they are troubled. The young children will take this knowledge with them onto their teenager years.

My name is Jane Oakley-Lohm a retired grief and loss counsellor and trainer and childrens book author based in Launceston Tasmania. The illustrator is based in Hobart also a retired grief and loss counsellor and trainer. This is book is available in an Ebook ($7) version or in A4 size ($25) includes postage in Australia.
The book explains what a loss can be for a child and gives them some strategies when they feel sad. The world is not what it used to be there is many losses particulary due to Covid with restrictions.

• Applying important scaling questions to invite conversation & support understanding
• Developing self-care strategies for both adults & children

• Refining our communication skills with children
