What Are Antioxidants?

Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage DNA and cells and lead to illness and aging. Your body naturally produces free radicals as a result of various metabolic processes but there are a lot of external sources of free radicals too.

Antioxidant molecules have spare electrons that they can donate to free radicals in order to neutralize them without becoming unstable themselves. This prevents the free radical from ‘stealing’ an electron from a healthy molecule and, as a consequence, damaging cells and DNA.
Using antioxidant serums and eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help reduce free radical damage.

Best Protection Boosting Antioxidants!

Antioxidants neutralize the free radicals (unstable molecules that cause damage to DNA and break down collagen) that are produced when your skin is exposed to UV radiation & pollution.

Research suggests that the addition of antioxidants into sunscreens can reduce free radical production by up to 78%.

3 Antioxidants that are particularly good at boosting sun-protection are:

🌿Niacinamide
🌿Vitamin C (especially when combined with vitamin E & ferulic acid)
🌿Green Tea (especially when combined with caffeine)

You can usually find sunscreens that contain these ingredients but it's usually more effective to combine them separately (e.g. using an antioxidant serum under your sunscreen).

All 3 antioxidants are suitable for all skin types/conditions, but some may offer additional benefits:
🌿Acne - Niacinamide, Green Tea
🌿Hyperpigmentation - Vitamin C, Niacinamide
🌿Rosacea - Green Tea, Niacinamide
🌿Dry Skin - Niacinamide
