A little green in between appointments today. Surrounded by lizards, the sound of trickling water, green in every shade and bird song. My fav journal place is anywhere outdoors.

Bouldering: flexibility, strength, balance, endurance, problem solving, coordination, risk taking, flow, stability, holding, letting go, focus, stretching, tension, crossing the body, support, adaptability, courage, self-efficacy… Current research on rock climbing as therapy suggests it is a promising therapeutic tool! My lived experiencing of bouldering supports this, it’s one of my most effective and enlivening somatic supports.

How to show up for your therapy session:
Just show up.
Anxious. Messy. Overwhelmed. Sad. Struggling. Cynical. Angry. Stressed. Confused. Reluctant. Just show up. Walk in the door. Enter the space. Talk, don’t talk. Just arrive. Come as you are. Show up, bring your full humanity!

How to solar dye: add fabric scraps & wool to a jar. Add foraged native fruit. Put in sun. Completely forget about it for 8-ish weeks. Hang in sun, be wowed!
First pictures are wet, second show the colour dry! 💜
PS it is a fugitive dye but that’s ok it’s all about the process. I’ll keep it away from light and just enjoy it! So pretty. Thanks Gail for the foraged fruit! 💜.
Botanical dyeing is my therapy! Want to learn?

Thinking of you. You who didn’t celebrate IWD: you who were not recognised or celebrated by anyone at all, you who suffered due to gender, you who received token recognition and then spent the entire day doing housework and mothering duties while partners had leisure time, you who spent the day alone (unintentionally), you who experienced injustice yesterday, you who are unsure how you fit (if at all) within “women,” you who are tired, burnt out, broke, discouraged, suffering, invisible… I don’t exactly know what I want to say to you except I see you. I sat today and sent a compassionate thought towards you, I pray it lands gently so you can know you are not entirely alone.

Weaving. Gathering. Defying loneliness. Permission to take time for you. Making. Chocolate. A cuppa. A beautiful morning together, thanks for hosting our women’s weaving circle.
💜 🤍 💚
Being together is powerful. Today we celebrate how far women have come and we contemplate the shifts needed to have equality.

I began weaving this to help me get to sleep. I felt my nervous system switch from over-thinking and over-functioning to regulating, nourishing and processing my day. A small weaving loom sits on my bedside table atm, I just reach for it when I can’t sleep or in the morning with my morning coffee and journal. Weaving a few rows shifts things for me. If you’d like to give weaving a try pop into the links, this Sunday we are holding a women’s circle learning freestyle weaving. Time set aside for you is so important, don’t let $ get in the way, tickets are “Pay what you can” 😊 🧶 💛 it’s also a fundraiser for community hub. Bring a friend. Don’t want to weave? Amity place is also a beautiful Opshop!
All welcome 🌈

Expressive art making is a dance. We switch off planning & designing. We enter flow, tuning in our senses, responding to the art materials. Like dancing, we move to the prompts provided by our senses. Moving intuitively, Creating from instinct without planning, giving permission for our body to trust. Go with the flow. No right or wrong way. Playful. Explorative. Curious. Relaxed art making that simply evolves.
Cyanotype process is fascinating and fabulous to just immerse oneself in.

Art therapy because sometimes there are no words

We meet you where you are at. We provide safe spaces and art materials. We collaborate with you and encourage creative expressions that explore feelings, thoughts and experiences that may be difficult to verbalise. An art therapy process may be something as simple as a squiggle drawn onto paper or a thumbprint pressed into clay. We help people empower themselves to health and wellbeing through the creative arts.
