Had that experience

Narcissists do not pick losers. They target the best of the best. The strongest. The smartest. The most capable. The ones who surpass their own level in ways they could only dream of. They are predators of potential, drawn to people whose light shines so brightly it threatens to expose the emptiness inside them. They will watch you, study you, and learn your strengths, not so they can celebrate them, but so they can find ways to control, weaken, and manipulate you.

They want to stand next to you so they can bask in your glow, while secretly plotting to make you doubt the very qualities that make you exceptional.
