Oh, hey...!!

I hope you've all had a great start to the week, and January brought many blessings your way, too.

I had my first official week back last week, along with school and kindy starting back after a wonderful holiday time spent with the family.

I am EXCITED for all 2025 will bring and pivoting in my business slightly, which you'll hear more about soon.

But for now, good night, and I hope you're keeping cool.

Also, on a quick note. How beautiful are frangipani's? I spotted ours has started blooming today, with more beautiful flowers to come soon.

Happy New Year All!

Yes, I know I'm only just getting to now, but there's no real rules around this right? We're still in January...

I have been soaking up the new year vibes and have been spending little time on socials, whilst all my babes are on school holidays.

I hope that you enjoyed all of the festivities of Christmas and New Years, and you were able to spend time with your families and get some rest to reset for the year ahead.

Each year, I pick three words. Last year, my words were freedom, abundance, and growth, which I achieved, just not in the way I expected. I was given the freedom to choose what I wanted for myself and my family, which led to resigning from my day job mid-year to focus on my babies and my business. While this was what I wanted, I found it challenged me, too.

Abundance flowed in multiple areas of life, from finances to travel and adventures, to love and quality time, to growth and healing, to awareness and expansion.

My growth was great too in the form of healing my past wounds, expanding my awareness and view of the world, and understanding that we are only limited by our beliefs, point of focus, and the choices and action we take (or don't).

If I had to sum up 2024 in one word, it I would say it was transition. Whilst I didn't achieve all that I hoped to, my challenges were preparing me for what's to come this year.

My words for 2025 are health, wealth, and fulfilment.

I look forward to sharing more with you and supporting you, and know that just by changing your focus, you will change your life.

DAY 12: REDUCE YOUR STRESS!

We live in a society that praises full schedules with limited down time, and not being present and in the moment. We are often rushing and have a number of different mental tabs open at a time. Christmas time can enhance this for people. It can also feel tricky at times to prioritise ourselves, but it is important to do this for our health and overall well-being.

Some things you can do to reduce stress is to meditate. It can be helpful to do it daily at a set a time. They can also be short meditations that only last a few minutes, and you can use an app or audio recording, or you can simply sit in silence and just notice where your mind goes.

Another thing you can do is breathwork. There are many different techniques you can do, but to keep simple to start with is to take big belly breathes in and out slowly. Breathwork helps to calm your nervous system when it is feeling overworked.

Another thing you can do is go for a walk in nature and you could include the first two in this activity and gain the benefits of all three.

The importance of reducing our stress is to ensure our health is optimal, our sleep will improve, our digestion will improve, our mental capacity will benefit, and the energy we bring in our life.

This was my last one. I hope the big man visits you tonight and you're on the nice list.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

DAY 11: HOW TO REMEMBER OTHER PEOPLE'S NAMES.

How many times have you heard yourself or someone else say, 'I'm not good at remembering names,' Or 'I'm sorry, I probably won't remember your name,' When you meet someone new.

With so many of you attending Christmas catch up's and parties, I felt it appropriate to share a little trick you can use to help remember other people's names straight away. Here it is. Whether someone's introducing themselves or you're introducing yourself, shake their hand, and once they've shared their name with you, say it at least three times straight away. This could sound like 'It's lovely to meet you, Sarah. Sarah is such a beautiful name. Tell me Sarah, what do you do for work?'

Doing this process helps to embed their name into your brain so that you see them, and you'll remember their name. Give it a go! 😃

DAY 10: MOVE YOUR BODY

Slowly but surely, we've become a society that is more and more sedentary, and it is hurting our health and our mind.

If you've got a current fitness regime but are finding it hard to keep up with, with Christmas catch up's and parties to attend. Why not temporarily reduce the number of times you go to the gym or opt for quicker workouts so that you're in and out and still getting results. Or you could do some at home workouts instead to save on travel time.

If you're rediscovering movement, may I suggest that you choose something that you enjoy rather than something you don't. It's much easier to stick with something that you enjoy. So if you love the gym, go. If you prefer yoga or pilates, do that. If you've been wanting to try a b-class but haven't, get on it. Or perhaps swimming or a walk is your thing, do it! Whatever it is for you, just start. It doesn't have to wait for the new year either. Start today, and you'll feel so much better for it.

DAY 9: MAKE TIME FOR REST

This is something that can seem difficult for some for many different reasons, but the truth is that REST is necessary. It is particularly necessary when your body is giving you all the signs and symptoms of being in need of rest.

Some of the signs that you may be in need of rest are that you are not well, you are short tempered, you're having trouble concentrating, you're not allowing yourself to sleep enough or too much, or perhaps you're overwhelmed.

If you find yourself feeling like you need a nap part way through the day, take it. It is still productive. It is also a great idea to give yourself the time to sleep at least 8 hours per night as often as possible. Sometimes, you may need a rest or break from someone else too, so take the time and space you need to give yourself that rest.

I'll say it again. Rest is productive.

DAY 8: PLATE UP 30/60/10!

How do you serve up your plate at meal times? Many of us tend to fill half our plate with protein, then another large portion of carbs in the form of potato, pasta, rice or something else along those lines, and then might leave a little bit of room for some vegetables or salad, some even skip the last part all together.

Here's a great habit to get into, though if it's new to you, it might take some getting used to. So here it is:

30% good quality protein, which looks like the same size and thickness as the palm of your hand. If you're training or do a lot of physical work/movement, you may want to increase this to suit.

60% carbs in the form of vegetables or salad, which will look like two closed fists for vegetables and two open hands for salad.

Then, 10% good quality fats, which will look like thumb to index finger and can incorporate the oil you use for cooking, oil as dressing on your salad, or avocado, nuts, etc.

Have a go, and let me know if you have any questions.

DAY 7: JOURNAL

If this isn't a habit of yours already, make it one. I was introduced to this back in year 8 of high school, and I still practice this today. Journaling is a great way to get all of the 'stuff' out of your head, on to paper, and it can be an incredible reflective tool and bring about awareness, too

Journalling can improve your mental health, allow you to reframe any negative thoughts you've had, identify anything that is scausing you stress, and even problem solve. It can also be a place to get out ideas you've come up with or goals you've set for yourself.

DAY 6: SPEND TIME IN NATURE

This comes naturally for some and not for others, and sometimes we become conditioned not to spend time in nature because it becomes less of a priority. Whatever it is for you, make time to get outside, even if it's for a short time.

What this could look like:
Drinking your morning smoothie or coffee outside (bonus points if you sit on the grass).
Go for a walk down a local trail or in your neighbourhood.
Take the kids to the park and get involved in the play (put your phone away).
Eat lunch in the park.
Go for a walk in your lunch break.

It's a great way to ground yourself, reset, reduce stress, and calm a heightened nervous system if that's you. It can also be a meditative process and give you hits of inspiration or ideas. It's good for the mind, body, and spirit.

DAY 5: ENJOY THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES WITHOUT RESTRICTION

It's important to truly enjoy our experiences, particularly time such as Christmas, though many place so much restriction on themselves, particularly in relation to what they eat and drink.

What I suggest is that you create flexibility in the way you eat because it is as much about enjoying the experience, including the environment and company, as it is about nourishment. Having the Christmas pudding with custard or ice cream for dessert isn't going to put your health in jeopardy, nor will the glass of wine with lunch. ENJOY the experience. Adopt an 80/20 relationship with the way you nourish yourself.

The trick is to get back to your usual way of nourishing the next day. This will help readjust your tastebuds and crowd out the cravings from the day before.

DAY 4: START YOUR DAY WITH SOMETHING TRULY NOURISHING TO EAT

A really great habit to create for your morning is to start your day with a nourishing breakfast, which is full of real, wholefood ingredients. Pick something rich in protein, vegetables, and/or fruit, and some good fats, and you're on your way to crowding out the cravings for convenience foods or drinking that'll leave you feeling tired and sluggish by 10am.

Here are some examples:
🎄 Smoothie or smoothie bowl.
🎄 Eggs your way with cooked vegetables.
🎄 Naked waffles topped with yoghurt, pure maple syrup, and fresh fruit.
🎄 Overnight oats topped with pure honey and fresh fruit.

Starting your day this way will allow you to feel more energised, satiated, and ready to take on the demands of the day, particularly over the Christmas period.

DAY 3: SHIFT YOUR FOCUS IN SOCIAL SETTINGS

We all know that at this time of year there are often a lot of Christmas celebrations and catch up's booked in, and sometimes this can cause social stress or overwhelm for some.

If you're one of those people, try shifting your focus from yourself toward those you are around. Embrace a childlike curiosity and amp up your listening skills by focusing on what the other person is saying and asking them questions. Not only will this help you stop focusing on yourself in that moment, but you will also strengthen or create new connections with others and perhaps even learn something new. 😉

I am a little behind in sharing these, so I will post another one a little later this evening.
