When we experience a situation that is physically, emotionally or socially threatening, the brain doesn’t always process it properly. Instead, the emotional overload can make the memory get “stuck”. Then in everyday life it can feel like they’re happening right now and your body and emotions respond as if you’re still there.

EMDR therapy helps the brain reprocess these memories so they can be stored in the past, with less emotional charge.

Your brain holds onto unprocessed memories to protect you. But it can also learn to let go.

A sound, a glance, a word and suddenly your chest tightens, your thoughts race, or you shut down completely.

You’re not overreacting.
You’re not broken.
Your nervous system is responding to a memory it held onto to protect you.
But that protection isn’t always helpful anymore and your brain can learn to let go.

That’s where EMDR comes in.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) helps your brain reprocess those stored trauma memories so they no longer take over.

It doesn’t erase the past.
It helps your nervous system understand that the memory is over and you are safe now.

✨ If you’re ready to start your healing, I offer EMDR therapy online and in-person. Contact me or head to the website for more and to book your first appointment www.elmpsychology.net
