What a truly special ANZAC Day at Tudor Village ❤️
This year’s commemoration marked a significant milestone - the 10th anniversary of this much-loved village tradition - and it was our largest gathering yet, with more than 180 residents plus guests from Legacy filling the community centre. Every seat was taken, each thoughtfully adorned with a sprig of rosemary, creating a moving and respectful atmosphere.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt reading of A Tribute to ANZAC Day, followed by the lowering of the flag to half-mast and a warm welcome to all in attendance.
Our talented Tudor Village choir led a stirring rendition of Advance Australia Fair, setting the tone for a ceremony filled with reflection and gratitude. Residents shared readings including the ANZAC Requiem, In Flanders Fields and the Ode, honouring both our Tudor Legacy Ladies and ex-service personnel, as well as those we have lost.
A particularly moving moment came as wreaths were laid at the flagpole while the choir performed Song of Peace, followed by the bugler’s powerful rendition of the Last Post. A minute’s silence was observed before the flag was raised once more and Rouse sounded. The ceremony concluded with I Am Australian and a heartfelt recitation of We're All Australians Now.
Afterwards, guests and residents gathered to share light refreshments and traditional ANZAC biscuits.
Some highlights from the day:
• Our biggest turnout ever
• The stunning poppy display surrounding the centre
• Our volunteer pianist and bugler
• And, as always, the deeply emotional moment of the Last Post, which brought many to tears
A sincere thank you to everyone who played a part in making this year’s commemoration so meaningful. Lest we forget 🌺
