Give young people the space to be heard, and great things happen. 🌟

That’s what Jenny learned when she volunteered with Each at our headspace centre in Port Macquarie — working with our team on a co-designed program supporting neurodivergent young people to better understand themselves, build confidence, and develop practical mental health strategies.

The experience was so rewarding Jenny joined Each as a Community Engagement Worker, focusing on gambling harm reduction for young people.

“One of the most valuable parts of this experience has been learning just how powerful it is when young people are involved in shaping the programs that are for them.” Jenny remembered.

When the Peng family arrived in Australia, they were hoping for a fresh start, but instead found themselves isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn.

Fung was recovering from a serious injury. Van was working long hours to support the family. Daisy had put her education on hold to care for her mum. They felt alone until a neighbour introduced them to Each.

That moment changed everything.

With support from our Refugee health team and Allied Team (Physio, Diabetics and Occupational therapy), they were able to access health services, transport, and financial help. Daisy returned to her studies. Fung began to heal. And for the first time in a long time, the Peng family could breathe and begin again.

This is why we do what we do because no one should have to struggle alone.

Ray trusted his son to help him with online banking. Instead, over seven years, Ray’s son stole more than $230,000, including every cent of his pension. Fake letters, impersonated officials and manipulation led to financial ruin and emotional trauma.

Each financial counsellor Julie Dal Pra recently spoke to The Guardian and Channel 10 news after being one of the key people to help Ray untangle years of deceit and reclaim his independence: “I have not seen the length that the son went to in this… in the full knowledge of the poverty that he was leaving his dad in.”

Financial abuse is often invisible and carries a deep sense of shame for older victims. Raising awareness and advocating for stronger financial safeguards are needed to prevent people like Ray from being targeted by this form of abuse.

For Robert, 76, life changed in ways he never expected. After years of caring for his wife through her dementia, his own health began to decline. When she passed away, the weight of grief and managing daily life alone became too much to handle.

That’s when he found Each’s Care Finder Connect service.

His Care Finder Coordinator didn’t just help him navigate My Aged Care or arrange practical support like home assistance. They checked in on him, listened to his concerns, and made sure he never felt alone during some of his toughest moments.

Now, a year later, Robert looks back with deep gratitude. “I feel incredibly blessed that Each came into my life. I don’t know where I’d be without them.”

With ongoing support, Robert is regaining his strength and independence—knowing he has someone in his corner. And that makes all the difference.
