Yes, it is all connected!
If you haven’t been paying attention to your body yet, is now the time to understand it deeper?
We have to stop thinking of our body in bits and pieces, segments that fit nicely into an anatomy text book, a toe that is separate to the head.
The question asked of us is, "Is it muscular or bone?". The easy answer is, it is always both, due to the way the fascia connects it all.
Whether it is ancient or modern, the time to understand the body in it’s wholeness is no better than now.
Here is a piece from Eduardo Ramos on why we love helping people deal with their issues in the now, by addressing the stress that is held and expressed through the fascia system.
Myofascial therapy is a bucket of techniques that addresses the muscles and fascia (a thin tissue that cover the muscles). At the same time this fascia separates one muscle from other, it is intricately connected throughout the body from the top of the head to the toes.
Stress, poor body posture, traumas and repetitive movements can make this fascia "wrinkled" and then the muscles struggle to contract without attrition in the fascia, leading to pain and restriction of movements. As this tissue connects everything, it is easy to understand that if one part of the body is compromised, the rest of the body will also be affected. The same way, scars from injuries or surgeries interfere and limit how this tissue should work.
Chiropractic treatment improves the body capacity to self-correct and affect not only the spine and joints but also how the muscles work. However, if the body is excessively compromised, it may be necessary something more focused. Myofascial therapy brings a solution and can optimise the body functioning, fixing issues such as tendinitis and bursitis and can improve mobility andremove inflammation of muscles according to the myofascial technique that is addressed. Some of these techniques involves the use of a metal tool while others prioritise pressure, compression or friction in the muscles.
Among the benefits, reduction of pain, swelling, increased mobility and blood flow to the portion of the body that has been treated are the main effects. It is often observed that even the skin becomes more hydrated and the texture improves, bringing the body to a new improved version.
