Why did they bomb a girls’ school?”
Why that school?
Why girls?
Couldn’t they target better?
Didn’t they care?
Was it an accident?
Because they can, my love.
Because cruelty is not a mistake.
Sometimes cruelty is the message.
Because when violent men target girls, they are not only killing children.
They are attacking the future.
They are trying to destroy hope before it has time to grow.
A girl in a classroom is never just a girl in a classroom.
She is a future teacher, writer, artist, leader, scientist, mother, neighbour.
She is imagination.
She is possibility.
She is proof that another world could still be made.
That is why cruel men fear girls.
That is why the Taliban ban them from school.
That is why Boko Haram kidnaps them.
That is why extremists everywhere try to control women’s bodies, voices, freedom, and futures.
Because girls carry what violent men fear most:
change.
freedom.
the possibility of something better.
So when they bomb a girls’ school, they are not only attacking a building.
They are sending a message to the living:
we will not only take life,
we will try to destroy what comes next.
That is why it hurts so much.
That is why it should feel unbearable.
So name the pain.
Name the rage.
Name the killers.
But most of all, name the girls.
Say their names against silence.
Say their names against forgetting.
Say their names against every system that hopes the world will move on too quickly.
And to every daughter every kid , asking how this can happen:
carry the hope they tried to erase.
Be brave.
Be free.
Be loud.
Be difficult for men who fear the truth.
Be everything they tried to crush.
Because children were killed.
Girls were killed.
A school was bombed.
And we must have the courage to say so.
