The Ballina Melanoma March 2025 will be held on Sunday, 9th March 2025 at Missingham Park. The event starts at 7.30am, with the March kicking off at 8.30. Funds raised go towards melanoma research and treatment. If you would like to participate in the March or make a donation, please see the Melanoma March website.

Melanoma March events are held around Australia during March to raise vital funds for melanoma research and increase awareness of melanoma. The events also provide an opportunity for patients, families and communities to come together to support each other and remember those lost to the disease.

As part of participating in the Biggest Morning Tea on 25th May, Summerland Skin Cancer Clinic will be raising funds for the Cancer Council to support their work helping people with cancer & their families. There are 2 prize packs to be won. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased by contacting the clinic. Prizes drawn 25/5/23.

We are also still accepting donations, with all donations over $2 being tax deductible.

For the first time, Summerland Skin Cancer Clinic will be participating in the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 25th May. This is the 30th anniversary for the event. Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, despite it being one of the most preventable cancers.

Remember the 5 S’s:
- Slip on sun-protective clothing
- Slop on the sunscreen
- Slap on a hat
- Seek shade
- Slide on some sunglasses

So make SunSmart habits a part of your everyday routine and keep up to date with your skin checks!

Today is World Head and Neck Cancer Day. Skin cancers on the head and neck are very common and are a higher risk site than other parts of the body when lesions grow. Like many problems in life, catching them early is crucial. Having any new spot or lump that is growing, sore, bleeding or not healing up checked is essential. Preventing skin cancers from growing by being sun safe is also key.
