🎉 10 Years of Care, Growth & Gratitude 🎉

This week we celebrated 10 incredible years since we opened the doors to our little clinic — built from the ground up by the unwavering passion and dedication of the Delosa family. From humble beginnings to the thriving practice we are today, it’s been a journey of long hours, big dreams, and a whole lot of heart.

Over the years, we’ve seen so much growth and change — new faces, expanded services, updated facilities — but our core purpose has always stayed the same: providing compassionate, high-quality care to every animal that walks through our doors.

To all the employees past and present — thank you. Each of you has helped shape this clinic into what it is today. Whether you were with us for a season or for the long haul, your contributions have not gone unnoticed. And to the amazing team that still stands with us — you are the heart of this place, and we’re so grateful.

And to our incredible clients and community — thank you for your ongoing trust, loyalty, and support. You’ve stood by us through the ups and downs, and we truly wouldn’t be here without you.

Here’s to a decade of dedication, and to many more years of caring for your beloved pets. 🐾💙

From heartbreak to hope 💕🐶

This little girl came to us at just 1 day old after being seized by the RSPCA from a heartbreaking situation. So tiny and fragile, she was lovingly hand-reared by our amazing staff until we were able to find a suitable carer to take her on.

That’s when Pat from Guardian Angels Animal Rescue stepped in — and she did the most incredible job raising this little fighter, now known as Gracie 💗

GAAR is nothing short of amazing. They dedicate themselves to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs who desperately need a second chance. We’re so grateful to them, and to Pat, for the love and care they gave to Gracie and every other dog that passes through their care.

She’s now thriving, happy, and loved — exactly how every dog deserves to live. 🐾.

Check out Guardian Angels page to see that amazing work they do and give them a follow 🫶🏻🐶

What was the foreign body…? It was a toy bone ✅

Well done to those who made the correct diagnosis 👏🏻

This is Millie, poor little Millie swallowed her toy bone WHOLE after her mum, without thinking, coated it with peanut butter to keep her occupied for a few minutes hoping she could get a few moments to herself, but it never crossed her mind Millie might just swallow it whole. 😬

Luckily for Millie, mum knew exactly where the toy must have been once she realised it had disappeared and rushed her to us. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Dr Cillian performed an exploritory laparotomy to retrieve the toy and Miss Millie made a speeding recovery. Thanks mum, thanks Dr Cillian 🤝🏻

Safe to say we don’t think mum will be doing that again 😬

‼️‼️ PARVOVIRUS ‼️‼️
There has been confirmed cases in the local area.
The AVA has said it recommends all puppies be vaccinated from 6 weeks of age (with 2 follow up vaccines). Additionally make sure any dog older than a year is up to date with vaccinations.

If you need advice on parvovirus or to book your dog for vaccines, please call the clinic to speak with a team member.

🐶 What is Canine Parvovirus (CPV)?
“Parvo” is a viral infection that is often fatal to dogs not vaccinated against it.
It destroys the gastrointestinal tract and leads to life threatening complications.

🐶How do dogs catch Parvo?
Parvovirus is incredibly hardy - it can survive in soil for years. It is spread through soil/dirt contaminated surfaces for example on shoes, hands, rainwater etc. Every dog is at risk as it does not need to spread from dog-to-dog.

🐶 What are the signs of Parvo?
Early signs can be as simple as lethargy, dullness, or not wanting to eat. As the disease progresses, there is vomiting and diarrhoea - often with blood. Any of these signs in a dog without up-to-date vaccination is a serious concern for parvovirus

🐶 What is the treatment?
Treatment varies greatly depending on the case but often involves several days of hospitalisation in an isolation ward with a variety of therapeutic techniques - e.g. medication, IV fluids, plasma transfusions, and microbiota transplants.
Treatment is often successful but it is never certain as this disease is so deadly. The earlier treatment is started the better prognosis.

🐶 How do I stop my dog from catching Parvo?
The number one way to prevent parvovirus is to vaccinate your dog and keep your vaccinations up-to-date throughout their life.
If you have a puppy, keeping them away from soil/dirt, contaminated environments and public spaces until such time as they are vaccinated will reduce the risk.
If your dog can’t have vaccines for medical reasons, speak to us about titre testing and we will help make a plan for your pet.

🧼🐄 Healthy Hooves, Happy Herds! 🐄🧼
Professional Hoof Trimming for Cattle & Other Large Animals

📍 Serving Your Local Farms with Care, Precision, and Passion

Why Hoof Trimming Matters:

Regular hoof trimming is essential for maintaining the health, mobility, and productivity of large animals like cattle. Overgrown or uneven hooves can cause:
✅ Lameness
✅ Infections (like foot rot)
✅ Joint strain and long-term damage
✅ Decreased production

By maintaining hoof shape and balance, we prevent issues before they start — keeping your animals comfortable and your operation efficient.

🚨 **Important Update on After Hours Service** 🚨

Over the coming weeks, there will be some nights where we’re **unable to offer our usual after hours veterinary service**. This is due to the **closure of Mt Victoria Pass in the evenings**, which affects our vets travelling from the mountains.

We understand this may be inconvenient and appreciate your understanding as we work around these access issues.

📞 **If you need assistance after hours, please call our after hours number on 0482 775 759** for up-to-date information and support.

Thanks for your patience and ongoing support.
