🎉🐴 Happy Horses’ Birthday! 🐴🎉
Today we celebrate the incredible therapy horses who support and walk alongside our wonderful clients they support them to feel calm, confident, and connected. August 1 marks the official birthday of all horses in the Southern Hemisphere—a perfect moment to honor the gentle souls who walk beside us in healing.
Whether you're brushing your favourite pony, sharing a quiet moment in the paddock, or just thinking about how much horses have supported you grow—this day is for you. 💖
🌈 Therapy horses support us to ground, encourage trust, courage, and how to be present. They don’t need words to understand us—and that’s their magic.

It's okay to enjoy life.
It's okay to feel safe.
It's to feel relaxed and to release all pressures.
It's okay to savour each moment.
It's okay to let go of all attempts at control.
It's okay to let go.
It's ok to feel joy.
It's okay to feel happy and content.
It's okay to rest.
It's okay to simply be.
And it's okay to simply be you; unfiltered, authentic You.

After a lifetime of holding on and trying to hold it all together, these utterly natural human states can feel alien and even frightening. So please, use this permission and repeat it to yourself each time you start to push away these incredibly healing and nourishing experiences, because they ARE your true birth-right.

Further updates from the Ndis, around Animal Assisted therapy. Animal Therapies Ltd have been working tirelessly to support changes to wording around this and requesting animal therapy be taken off the no list. Animal Assisted therapy is a yes.

In March this year, the NDIA updated their "assistive technology" page on the NDIS website. While the term "assistive technologies" are usually used to reference assistance animals it appears that the NDIS have included some explanatory notes around animal-assisted therapy which can be read here:

https://ourguidelines.ndis.gov.au/would-we-fund-it/assistive-technologies/therapy-animals

ATL is currently drafting a submission to the DSS to remove “animal therapy”off the outlist and ensure that the correct terminology is embedded into future legislation.

The submission aims at ensuring that animal-assisted services designed to meet the goals of participants in accordance with the participants NDIS plan, delivered by professions listed in the PAPL are approved.

So much truth if we are willing to slow down, take a breath and be open to feedback.

Why are horses a release for people?

Horses are a release for people because they strip life back to its simplest, most honest form.
In a world full of noise, emails, deadlines, expectations, horses remind us that real communication isn’t about words. It’s about presence. It’s about energy, intention, awareness.

When you’re with a horse, your words mean nothing, but your actions, your body language, your energy? That’s everything. You can’t fake confidence with a horse. You can’t lie with your posture. You can’t manipulate with charm or excuses. Horses reflect back exactly who you are in that moment, your fear, your calm, your frustration, your peace.

That’s why working with horses is 90% self-reflection. They force you to get quiet. To slow down. To pay attention not only to them, but to yourself. Your breathing, your posture, your thoughts. They draw you out of your head and into your body, into the present.

It takes us back to a time when survival, connection, and trust weren’t built on promises or conversations. They were built on consistency, energy, and respect. Horses remind us how to just be, without the layers of complication life piles on.

That’s why so many people find healing with them. They don’t care about your job, your past, your social status. They care about your energy in this moment, and nothing feels more freeing than being seen for your truest self, without judgment, without words.
