“Straight? I don’t even walk that way.”

LGBTQ+ communities aren’t one-size-fits-all. Q***r individuals living with disabilities, chronic conditions, or different mobility needs deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Access. Representation. Acceptance.

They aren’t optional - they’re essential.

Pride comes in all forms, all bodies, and all journeys. Every story matters. Every person belongs.

Meet our lovely social work students, Rosalinda and Sanjay, who are currently doing their placement with us 💜

As part of our Real Life Reflections series inspired by this year’s International Women’s Day theme,
“Balance the Scale,”

Rosalinda shared that she would remove unconscious bias in job hiring - especially the bias that can come with being from an ethnic background. She reflected on how skills, qualifications, and passion should matter more than names, accents, or cultural backgrounds. True balance means equal opportunity, not silent barriers.

Sanjay reflected on the financial pressures faced by international students. He shared that increased financial support would make a significant difference — all wing students to focus on their studies, well-being, and professional growth instead of constantly worrying about living expenses.

Their reflections remind us that “balancing the scale” is not just a theme - it’s a call to action. It’s about creating systems where diversity is valued, support is accessible, and opportunity is fair.

Our lovely Doreen closed her chapter with Ethni last week 💜

Doreen has been such an incredible part of Ethni. Her hard work, kindness, patience, and dedication have left a lasting mark on all of us. She has supported so many people not just through what she did, but through who she is warm, caring, and always willing to go the extra mile to make others feel safe and valued.

You were never just part of the team... you were family. The laughter, the guidance, the gentle encouragement, and the love you showed our community will always be remembered.

We are going to miss you so much, but we are also so proud of you as you step into a new chapter of your career and life. We pray this next journey brings you growth, happiness, and opportunities that reflect the amazing person you are.

Thank you for everything you have poured into this space and into our lives. Once Ethni family, always Ethni family. Wishing you nothing but success and blessings in your next chapter 💜💜

Welcome back to our series Real Life Reflections - where we share honest stories from the many roles women carry every single day, all centred around our theme “Balancing the Scale.”

Today we’re featuring Clence, who opened up about an important moment of self-reflection - recognising how often she has had to work twice as hard just to prove her worth. In this video, she shares personal experiences from navigating the Western education system, and the pressure of constantly feeling the need to validate her intelligence, capability, and voice in spaces where she wasn’t always immediately seen or understood.

Her story is a reminder that behind many achievements is unseen effort, resilience, and courage. Sometimes balancing the scale isn’t about doing more - it’s about being recognised fairly.

We honour your strength, Clence, and the many women who carry similar stories quietly every day.

In honour of this year’s Women’s International Day theme, “Balance the Scale,” we’re excited to launch a special series of conversations reflecting on real-life experiences and the different roles women carry every day.

Today, our lovely Doreen shares her story and speaks openly about what it’s really like balancing life as a working mum - the challenges, the lessons, and the small wins along the way. Her experience is honest, relatable, and encouraging for anyone trying to juggle responsibilities while still caring for themselves and their family.

Join us, listen in, and be part of the conversation. You might see a piece of your own journey in hers 💜
