✨ Perimenopause & Menopause — The Wise Woman Season ✨

I am officially in Wise Woman Season…What I can say is this — I’ve chosen to embrace it. I can’t go back in time, and truthfully, I feel proud of how I’ve honoured my body over the years. I genuinely believe that has shaped how I’m experiencing this transition.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t symptoms.

For me, it’s been the intense heat that radiates from my body at times and waking during the night for a few hours. Hormonal shifts — particularly fluctuating and declining estrogen — can increase cortisol sensitivity in the body. And when cortisol rises, the nervous system can feel wired, stressed and overstimulated.

Perimenopause and menopause can bring:
• Hot flushes
• Sleep disruption
• Mood changes
• Increased stress sensitivity
• Digestive changes
• Brain fog
• Fatigue

And yet… we don’t talk about it enough.

I think about when my mum went through it. She struggled. There wasn’t much support. It was just “part of getting older” — deal with it. Women are resilient. We carry on. We push through.

But perhaps this season is asking something different of us.

Perhaps it’s asking us to slow down.
To rest deeper.
To listen more closely.
To honour that we are wiser now.

I don’t know about you… but I have been feeling the shifts.

The deep shedding.
The unraveling.
The quiet return to something softer… something younger… something safe.

It feels like the final skin loosening — the snake releasing what it has outgrown.
Layer by layer. Identity by identity.
Old stories slipping gently to the earth.

This past week has asked me to rest.
To coil inward.
To sit in stillness and allow the energy to move toward letting go.

And if I’m honest… it has been uncomfortable.

Funny how silence can feel louder than noise.
How being alone with ourselves can feel harder than the rush of doing.
We are so conditioned to move, to achieve, to fill the space.

Yet in the quiet… something sacred happens.

And now, I can feel a new current rising.

Courage.
Strength.
Pride.
Virtue.

As we step into the Year of the Horse — the Fire Horse — it does not mean we must gallop wildly into the next chapter. Power does not require frenzy.

The horse teaches us something deeper.

Did you know digestion literally slows down when your nervous system is stressed?

When your body shifts into fight-or-flight, survival becomes the priority — not digestion.
Blood flow moves away from your gut.
Stomach acid and enzymes reduce.
Motility slows.

Your body isn’t trying to harm you — it’s trying to protect you.

Now layer on modern life…

Long hours sitting.
Slouching over phones and laptops.
Poor spinal alignment.
Shallow breathing.

Your organs sit under constant mechanical pressure. Your diaphragm can’t move freely. Your nervous system stays on alert.

And I don’t know about you…
But when I’m stressed and on the run, I tend to do everything that way — including eating.

Scoffing down my food.
Standing at the bench.
Eating in the car.
Multitasking while chewing.

Just trying to get more done.

And in doing that, I add to the very problem so many of us are living in — keeping the nervous system stuck in “doing, doing, doing” mode… and rarely allowing true rest.

How is our body meant to digest food when the brain is hyper-focused on everything else?

Digestion requires safety.
Presence.
Breath.

You can’t fully digest food — or life — when your body feels unsafe.

If your system perceives stress (physical, emotional, chemical), it will always prioritise protection over healing.

HEADACHES AND TIGHT JAWS!

Headaches are often treated as something to push through or manage — but very often, they’re a message from the body.

Many headaches are linked to:
• tension in the upper cervical spine (especially around C1)
• jaw clenching and facial tension
• nervous system overload and hyper-vigilance

The top of the spine (C1) sits at the base of the skull and plays a huge role in how the head, jaw and nervous system communicate.






When the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, this area often becomes a holding point.
The body tightens here to protect the brain and senses — especially during prolonged stress, emotional pressure, or constant mental load.

Over time, this protective holding can:
• restrict movement and fluidity
• irritate surrounding nerves
• contribute to headaches, jaw pain and facial tension

My love to you 🤍

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people.

Having been exposed to deep family grief in my early years, I developed a profound sensitivity to the emotions of those around me. I saw a lot of sadness — and somewhere within that, a deep longing grew for people to feel lighter, calmer, and more at ease within themselves.

I also had a beautiful childhood. Yet at times, emotions felt overwhelming, and I would retreat into my own inner bubble — a place of safety, imagination, and quiet presence. Looking back now, I see how those moments shaped my ability to feel deeply, to sense energy, and to hold space with compassion.

I am deeply grateful for the journey — the learning, the unravelling, and the becoming.
What has blossomed feels both humbling and natural.

I have always been drawn to placing my hands on people — instinctively offering calm, reassurance, and grounding. Even during my years in the corporate world, I found myself gently supporting others to settle, breathe, and soften. It felt right. It felt true. It felt like home.

I don’t believe I am a healer — because we are all our own healers.
But I do believe we each hold the ability to guide, support, and remind one another of what already lives within.

Hands are powerful.
Energy is intentional.
When offered with presence and love, healing flows where it is most needed.

I love creating visions of healing spaces — and watching them come alive.
Inviting people into experiences where they feel safe, seen, and deeply supported fills my heart beyond words.

If your neck and shoulders are always tight, it’s not just posture — it’s protection.

Physically phones, laptops and long days pull the head forward and keep the nervous system alert.

Over time this creates:
• neck pain
• shoulder tension
• upper back discomfort
• headaches

However.....neck & upper back pain isn't just physical stress

The neck and upper back are two of the most common places we hold stress, responsibility and emotional vigilance.

Emotionally, this area is often linked to:
• always being “on” or alert
• carrying responsibility for others
• not feeling heard, seen or understood
• holding back your truth or needs
• not expressing your true nature
• swallowing emotions to keep the peace
• long-term emotional fatigue or quiet grief

The neck connects the head (thoughts) to the heart (feelings).
When we don’t feel safe to speak up or express ourselves fully, the body often tightens here to protect us.

This tension isn’t weakness — it’s intelligence.

When emotions don’t have a safe outlet, the nervous system stays in a state of alert. Muscles remain contracted, breathing becomes shallow, and over time this protection can turn into pain.

This isn’t about forcing release or reliving emotions.
It’s about helping the body feel safe enough to soften.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about loving others 💗

I often ask my clients a simple question:
If you were given one car, and that car had to last you for the rest of your life… how would you look after it?

The answer is always the same.
Really well.
You’d service it.
You’d listen when something felt off.
You wouldn’t ignore warning lights.
Because you’d need that car to get you everywhere.

Then I gently ask…

What if you applied that same care to your body?

Your body is the only vehicle you’ll ever have to move you through this life.
It carries your memories, your emotions, your stress, your joy, your healing.

I’ve been noticing something lately — and I include myself in this too.

So many of us are creating busyness as a way of avoiding ourselves.
Overworking. Over-exercising. Doom scrolling.
Eating and drinking to excess.
Relying on constant stimulation and high caffeine just to keep going.

On the surface it looks like productivity or “coping,”
but underneath, our nervous systems are often stuck in fight-or-flight.

When the body is living in survival mode, it doesn’t feel safe to slow down.
And when we don’t feel safe, we stay busy. Distracted. Disconnected.
Not because we’re broken — but because our system is protecting us.

The truth is, so much energy, emotion and wisdom can lie dormant within us when we’ve been living in stress for too long.
And without space, safety and support, we never give ourselves the opportunity to return home to ourselves.

This is where gentle nervous system work — like Spinal Flow — can be profoundly powerful.
