Logan Hospital

Logan Hospital We’re the major public healthcare centre for the City of Logan, Queensland.

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing regions in the state. We have grown from a 48-bed community hospital in 1990 to a 448-bed hospital today, mirroring the rapid growth in population in the Logan region. We provide acute medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity, cardiology, orthopaedics, renal and other specialty services for children and adults. We're the

location of Queensland's largest ever hospital expansion project on an existing hospital site—with a total capital investment of more than one billion dollars. In the coming years, the hospital will increase in size by almost half, with a significant increase in beds and treatment spaces across several new wards and a range of expanded support services.

On ‘Funky Fridays’ our hospital team is encouraged to wear bright clothing and fun scrubs to their shifts.

This week our friends from Medical Imaging are in the spotlight!

Kellyann, Jessica and Kane said they loved adding colour and cheer to the day by wearing fun scrubs.

“It often brings a smile to patients, helps put them at ease, and lifts staff morale by creating a more fun and positive work environment,” they said.

“We also enjoy chatting about each other’s choice of scrubs, as they often tell a little story about a person’s personality and interests. They’re a great conversation starter!”

Logan Hospital is taking another step towards more inclusive care 🏥✨

New dark skin-tone CPR manikins have been added to the Simulation Service, shaping education that reflects our diverse community.

Already making an impact in Basic Life Support sessions, they’re prompting stronger conversations around equity, diversity and inclusion. 💜

Simulation educator Rhiannon McHugh said the addition supported a more culturally safe learning environment, shaped in collaboration with the Logan Resuscitation Service and a First Nations consumer.

It’s part of a broader effort to ensure training at Logan Hospital represents our diverse staff as well as the community we care for every day. 🌏

Katherine, Katie and Brittany are just 3 of our midwives recognised as part of International Day of the Midwife. 💜

Every day, our midwives support families through pregnancy, birth and those first special moments with a newborn.

Logan Hospital is one of Queensland’s busiest maternity units, and together with our teams at Beaudesert and Redland hospitals, we welcome more than 6,000 babies into the world each year.

That’s around 15 births every day across our three hospitals!

Thank you to our incredible midwives for the care and compassion you show our community.

🔍 Can you spot your midwife?

If your local park was a little busier than usual this morning, here’s why.

It’s International Day of the Midwife, and our midwives and supporters were out in force for “Walk with a Midwife,” hosted by the Australian College of Midwives.

Logan and Bayside midwives came together at Mount Cotton Community Park to celebrate, connect and get moving. 👟

Joined by nursing and executive leaders, it was a great way to recognise the incredible work our midwives do every day across our communities. 💞

Today we celebrated Administration Professionals Day 🎉

Our admin teams keep everything running smoothly, and we couldn’t operate without them.

Our Specialist Outpatient Department admin officers (pictured) have booked more than 80,000 patient appointments between them. And they’re just one of many amazing teams here at Logan Hospital!

Please join us in thanking or amazing administration professionals!

20-year-old Mason Clarke has just lifted the spirits of everyone in our Palliative Care Ward.

Here visiting his aunty, the talented musician sought out Palliative Care's piano when he needed a break from the busy Emergency Department.

Mostly self-taught, Mason says the love of music and its impact is something we never lose, and he hoped his playing brought a little comfort and light to those who heard it.

Thank you for sharing your talent, Mason. You’re welcome back anytime 🎹

Speech Pathologist Eve Beattie-Zarb has recently transitioned from student to new graduate at Logan Hospital, supported by a dedicated Allied Health career pathway. 👏

She credits the continuity of this pathway as key to her growth, with each step over four years building her confidence, responsibility, and independence across both community and hospital settings.

Eve said these experiences helped her develop strong clinical foundations and a broader understanding of patient care.

“It was so incredibly rewarding to start making clinical decisions and building my own caseload in such a supportive environment,” she said.

“It’s a diverse and rewarding career where you can make a meaningful impact in people’s everyday lives." 🧡

Our Perioperative Services team is recognising Anzac Day with thoughtful decorations displayed throughout patient journey spaces.

The display is part of an ongoing initiative led by anaesthetic nurses Amanda and Angela, designed to create a calmer, more welcoming environment for patients travelling to theatre.

What was once a stark white hallway is now decorated with monthly themes that provide comfort and distraction for patient's ahead of their surgery. ❤️

Amanda and Angela said the Anzac Day theme was a way for the team to reflect on remembrance and respect, while continuing to support patients through culturally safe and compassionate care.

“The aim of our initiative is to make the journey to theatre feel less clinical and more human,” they said.

The rotating displays, along with features like the popular pet wall, continue to bring moments of comfort and connection for both patients and staff.

Meet Adiola Mazambani, Team Leader in Child and Youth Mental Health. ⭐

Recognised for her leadership, Adiola brings a unique and caring approach to mental health, shaped by her experience across the UK, Australia and Zimbabwe.

In her role, Adiola supports young people and families through difficult times, always focusing on connection and understanding.

Her work is guided by the idea of “Ubuntu” which means “I am because we are.” It reflects her strong belief that care is about people, relationships and community.

Adiola says every family she works with has helped shape the way she cares. She believes it is not just about clinical skills, but about listening, being curious and understanding each person’s story.

She also values teamwork and believes good leadership means growing together, supporting each other and creating a positive culture. 🩷

Logan Hospital’s Rehab team recently worked with patient Mara Paul and her family to host a private Australian citizenship ceremony on the ward.

Surrounded by family, friends and staff supporting her recovery, Mara officially became an Australian citizen after nearly 20 years in Australia.

“It was such a privilege to have my own ceremony here,” Mara said.

The ceremony ended with a special moment, as Mara’s husband John led a Māori hymn.

A lovely example of ways our staff go above and beyond to provide culturally safe, patient centred care. 💛
