A huge thank you to the amazing crew from the Tasmania Fire Service for assisting Tuesday night 👏🚒

What started as a routine outing turned into a bit of an unexpected adventure when the lift on one of our vans decided it had officially clocked off for the evening 😅

With one of our participants safely stuck inside the van and no amount of buttons, turning things off and back on again, or positive thinking fixing it… the legends from TFS came to the rescue.

Not only were they incredibly professional and calm, but they also made the whole situation feel safe, supported and even a little fun for everyone involved. Community spirit like this never goes unnoticed ❤️

A special thank you for treating the situation with such kindness, dignity and humour. Our participant thought the extra attention from the firefighters was pretty special too 😊

We also want to acknowledge our amazing adaptCARE team, Alena, Dakota and Tracey, for the care, compassion and reassurance they provided throughout the entire situation. Moments like this really highlight the importance of having calm, supportive and caring people around you 🧡

We are so lucky to have emergency services and support staff within our community who genuinely care and always step up when needed.

4 Years Ago This Month…

I took a leap and decided to back myself, starting Benjamin Greaves Independent Support Services from home.

Within just a few weeks, I had brought on my first 3 staff, Brianna, Bobbie-Jo and Bianca (the original 4 B’s 😆). Not long after, that quickly grew by another 17 staff within the first month.

Safe to say… the dining table “office” didn’t last long, especially once Alena joined me there! It got crowded pretty quickly 😂

By late August 2022, we found ourselves stepping into our first little cosy office in Longford, officially moving in September. That’s where Adam and Debra joined the journey too, and things really started to take shape. This office didn’t last long as we needed more space, so we moved to the current office that’s had 3 major renovations and expansions with 1 currently underway.

Then in January, BGISS became adaptCARE, a name and brand created with our team. Through shared ideas, conversations, and a lot of input, adaptCARE came to life.

Fast forward to today…

We now have an incredible team:
✨ A strong office leadership group
✨ Dedicated admin, rostering and coordination teams
✨ Clinical expertise with nursing and complex care support
✨ And over 140 amazing support professionals out on the ground every day

We also still have around 20 of our original staff with us today, which says a lot about the journey we’ve been on together 🧡🖤🧡

But what I’m most proud of…

Through all the ups and downs, the hurdles and hoops, the knocks, the chatter, and yes… even the tough moments and tears, I’m proud of what’s been built with the people beside me.

And even more so, we still support the 6 participants we started with, and watching where they were then compared to where they are now… thriving… that’s something really special.

That right there is my proudest moment.

To everyone who has been part of this journey, past and present, thank you. You’ve helped build something pretty incredible.

Here’s to what’s next 🙌

☀️ Out and About with Kiera ☀️

On the 18th, Kiera enjoyed a fantastic day out with friends at the Harley Davidson Family Fun Day. 🏍️

She had a great time checking out the motorbikes, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying all the fun and atmosphere of the day. It was a lovely opportunity to get out in the community, spend time with friends, and make some wonderful memories.

We love seeing smiles, connection, and great experiences like this. 🧡🖤

Getting out and about, building confidence, and enjoying the simple moments 😊

Luke had a fantastic time heading to the pool with Support Professional Peter. From smiles in the water to enjoying some active fun, it was a great outing filled with movement, connection, and plenty of positive energy.

These moments are what it’s all about, supporting people to enjoy life, stay active, and be part of their community in ways that matter to them.

Today, on behalf of everyone at adaptCARE, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and spirit of all those who have served our country, past and present.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on the bravery, resilience and mateship shown by the men and women who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today. Their legacy continues to inspire us all.

We also acknowledge veterans, current service personnel and their families, whose sacrifices are often made quietly behind the scenes.

At adaptCARE, we are grateful for the opportunity to live and work in a community shaped by their service and dedication.

🌈🎉 Our Colour Disco was one to remember! 🎉🌈

What a night filled with laughter, dancing, games, music, creativity and so many smiling faces. From UNO battles and colouring tables, to face painting, photo moments and lighting up the dance floor, there was something for everyone to enjoy. 💃🕺✨

It was so special to see everyone getting involved, expressing themselves, building connections and simply having fun in a safe and welcoming space. These nights are about more than just music, they’re about inclusion, confidence, friendship and creating memories together. 🖤🧡🖤🧡

A huge thank you to Sam for the incredible face painting talents, Deb and Dee for decorating and helping bring the night to life, and to all staff and attendees who made the atmosphere so positive and supportive.

We are so proud to create events where everybody belongs. 🌟

🖤🧡 A special day out 🧡🖤

Jacquie had the pleasure of supporting Robbie on a trip to the Tram Shed Museum and insect exhibit, alongside Robbie’s wife Ange, and what a day it turned out to be!

From the moment they arrived, Robbie was fully engaged, exploring the interactive sensory displays, building his own insect, and taking in all the different exhibits around the museum. It was one of those outings where you could just see the enjoyment in every moment.

One highlight was when support pointed out the penguins… and Robbie’s reaction said it all 😂 A classic eye roll as if to say, “Jacquie, I know… it’s penguins.” Moments like that are what make these days so special.

It was a fun few hours filled with curiosity, laughter, and plenty of expressions from Robbie that kept everyone smiling. Days like this are what it’s all about, getting out, exploring, and creating meaningful experiences together.
