Happenings in clinic this week🌸

I find myself having some beautiful conversations with parents about evolving their relationship with their kids. As parents & carers develop their observational skills, they are less inclined to try to ‘fix’ their kids, & more inclined to work on understanding the experiences their kids are having.

Here’s an example. “his headache goes away when he’s out in the fresh air. It’s worse when he stoops down to tie his shoe. The pain is always at the top of the head. It’s worse first thing in the morning.”

With a little bit of coaching, anyone can learn which questions to ask & what to watch for. And I have a lovely little book that I give to first time clients, which is a great help in learning the ropes.

I tried something different yesterday, I played cards with my patient & his family. Sounds frivolous, but it was a great way to observe the family dynamic, & my patient’s challenging behaviours. Homeopathy is all about unprejudiced observation, & it is a skill that takes years to develop. But how to observe a patient in a consult? Games☺️
