In 2024, FirstAid Advantage has focused on making learning accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. Today Kate, one of our trainers, went to Brisbane and successfully attained her Level One Sports Trainer with Sports Medicine Australia. She has all the up to date advice from Sports Medicine Australia on Concussion recognition and management, spinal care and strapping and taping techniques for ankle, fingers and thumbs. We look forward to her return and can't wait for her to share the knowledge she has gained with all of us!

Today is Restart a Heart Day.
Here at First Aid Advantage we are really passionate about educating the Mackay and Surrounding Areas on the importance of High Performance CPR and Defibrillation.
We appreciate every single one of our students and the efforts they have put in learning the steps to save someone during cardiac arrest.
We want you to remember CALL, PUSH, SHOCK.
1. Call 000 or 112 to get an ambulance on the way. Call out and ask for a defibrillator
2. Assess your casualty using DRSABCD and if they are Unresponsive and Not Breathing Normally immediately commence CPR using firm compressions with the heel of the palm to the center of the chest, in line with the armpits. Push with your shoulders over your wrists and drop your weight down pushing 1/3 of the chest. The speed you are aiming for is 100-120 Beats per minute, which is roughly 2 per second. Ensure you have full recoil up with each compression.
3. Shock your casualty using the defibrillator- this is done by Turning on the defibrillator, and then following the instructions in the order the defibrillator tells you to. If there is more than one rescuer, compressions should not be paused when applying the defibrillator until the defibrillator instructs you to stand back.

Please let us know if we can assist you or your business in any way this October.
