ANZAC Day

Before the boats move, before the markets open, before the day finds its pace — there’s a quiet moment.

The horizon is still. The water barely moves. And the sunrise carries a kind of weight.

Today isn’t about noise or ceremony.
It’s about remembering — those who served, those who sacrificed, and the freedoms we now build our lives upon.

So this morning, we pause.

To reflect.
To be grateful.
And to carry that perspective into how we live, lead, and serve others.

Lest we forget.

✨ TENS in Labour: Small Machine, Big Support ✨

Did you know a TENS machine can be a fantastic tool to use in labour — especially in the early stages and as contractions begin to build? 🤍

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) works by sending gentle pulses through pads placed on your lower back. These pulses can help by:

🌿 Reducing pain signals interpreted by the brain
🌿 Encouraging your body’s natural endorphins (your own pain relief hormones)
🌿 Giving you a sense of control and something practical to focus on
🌿 Supporting movement and upright positions during labour

Many women love TENS because it’s:
✔ Drug free
✔ Non-invasive
✔ Safe to use at home or in hospital
✔ Easy to control yourself with a boost button during contractions

💡 It’s often most effective when started early in labour, rather than waiting until contractions are very intense.

At Women’s Health Physio Mackay, we love helping women feel informed, confident, and equipped for birth — because the more tools you have in your toolkit, the more empowered your birth experience can feel.

✨ We hire TENS machines directly from our clinic, making it easy to have one ready for your big day. Contact us to secure your booking before your due date. 🤍

🚽 Big Little Steps: Toilet Training Made Simple 🤍

Toilet training can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be.

Join us in Mackay for an evidence-based, supportive workshop presented by Women's Health Physio Mackay in collaboration with Allied Therapeutic Services and hosted by The Neighbourhood Hub and Mackay Library.

This practical session is designed to give parents, carers and educators the knowledge, confidence and simple strategies to make toilet training easier.

✨ You’ll learn how to:
• Recognise signs your child is ready
• Understand what’s happening developmentally
• Create positive, stress-free toilet routines
• Support your child through setbacks and accidents
• Manage common challenges like withholding
• Build healthy bladder and bowel habits
• Develop functional skills including dressing and body awareness
• Understand and manage toileting anxiety

We break everything down into clear, achievable steps you can confidently use at home — with time for questions too.

📅 Wednesday 6th May
📍 Two session times:
• 10:30am – Gordon White Library, Mount Pleasant
• 5:30pm – The Neighbourhood Hub, East Mackay

👶 Perfect for parents, carers, educators and families of toddlers aged approximately 18 months to 4 years.

✨ Limited spots available – registrations essential.

Your toilet posture matters more than you think 👀🚽

A simple change like using a toilet stool can completely transform how your body empties your bowels — making it easier, more efficient, and far kinder on your pelvic floor.

✨ Why we recommend it:
• Reduces straining (your pelvic floor will thank you)
• Helps you empty more completely
• Can improve symptoms of haemorrhoids
• Supports prolapse management
• Saves you time on the toilet
• And yes… a more satisfying poo 🙌

✨ Why it works:
Feet up = knees above hips → your pelvic floor relaxes
This helps straighten the re**um (reducing that “kink”) so things can move more freely

💡 Think: squat, not sit

It’s one of the simplest (and cheapest) tools we recommend in clinic — but it can make a BIG difference to your bowel health.

If you’re straining, going “just a little,” or never feel fully empty… this is your sign to try one 👏

We stock .aus amazing foot stools in clinic - and have used their wonderful diagrams 🙌🏼

🌏 World Health Day 🌏

Health is more than just the absence of illness — it’s the ability to live your life fully, confidently, and without limitation.

And yet, pelvic health is still one of the most overlooked pieces of the puzzle.

At Women’s Health Physio Mackay (WHPM), we see every day how deeply pelvic health impacts quality of life — from pregnancy and postnatal recovery, to bladder and bowel function, pelvic pain, sexual health, menopause, and beyond. These are not “small” issues. They are life-shaping, and they deserve to be treated with the same attention, respect, and expertise as any other area of health.

Today, on World Health Day, we reflect on what it truly means to provide care.

For us, it means going beyond the basics.

It’s taking the time to really listen — to hear the full story, not just the symptoms.
It’s creating a space where people feel safe to talk about things they may have never said out loud before.
It’s delivering evidence-based, individualised care that considers the whole person — not just one part of the body.
It’s continuing to learn, evolve, and stay at the forefront of pelvic health so our patients receive the highest standard of care, right here in our community.

It’s also advocating — for better awareness, earlier intervention, and access to services that shouldn’t be considered a luxury, but a standard part of healthcare.

Because everyone deserves to feel strong, supported, and in control of their body.

At WHPM, we are proud to stand alongside our patients through every stage of life — providing care that is not only clinically excellent, but deeply human.

Today is a reminder that your health matters. All of it.
And pelvic health is health.
