Real life at Women’s Health Physio Mackay 🤍

Sometimes appointments come with pelvic floor exercises…
and sometimes they come with toddler tornadoes.

Proof that we’re a child-friendly clinic 😅

We know getting to appointments as a mum isn’t always easy. Childcare isn’t always available, babies need feeding, toddlers need entertaining, and life is busy.

That’s why kids are ALWAYS welcome here.

If bringing your little one along means you can still access the care you need and deserve — please bring them. Toys, snacks, mess and all.

Because mums shouldn’t have to choose between their health and their kids. 🤍

Painful in*******se after birth is more common than many people realise — but that doesn’t mean it’s something you just have to “put up with.”

After having a baby, a number of physical and hormonal changes can contribute to discomfort with intimacy, including:
• Low oestrogen (especially when breastfeeding)
• Healing tissues or scar sensitivity
• Fatigue and hormonal shifts
• Pelvic floor muscle tension or fear of pain
• Recovery after a caesarean

The good news? There are solutions and support available.

Pelvic health physiotherapy can help address the underlying causes — whether that’s scar tissue, muscle tension, dryness, or helping your body regain confidence and comfort again.

Your body has been through something incredible. It deserves time, care and the right support. 🤍

If this is something you’re experiencing, you’re not alone — and help is available.

Here for you. When you need. 🤍

This week, endometriosis has been widely covered across Australian media — and for so many women, that coverage brings emotion.

Tomorrow marks the start of March — Endometriosis awareness month.

Endometriosis is not “just bad period pain.”
It can affect work, relationships, fertility, exercise, mental health and daily life.

If the conversations this week have resonated with you — please know:

You don’t have to manage pelvic pain alone.

At WHPM, we support women with:
• Persistent pelvic pain
• Endometriosis-related pain
• Pain with periods or ovulation
• Pain with intimacy
• Bladder and bowel symptoms
• Return to exercise with pain

Pelvic health physiotherapy is evidence-based and can be an important part of your pain management team. We work alongside GPs, gynaecologists and other specialists to help you move better, feel stronger and regain confidence in your body.

Whether you have a formal diagnosis or are just starting to question your symptoms — we are here for you.

When you need. 🤍

Running after baby isn’t about a date on the calendar… it’s about whether your body is ready.

The latest international consensus of clinicians and exercise professionals (Br J Sports Med, 2024) found return-to-running postpartum should be based on meeting physical and pelvic floor milestones — not just being 6 weeks postnatal.

Too many mums push back to running and then develop leaking, prolapse symptoms or ongoing pain — not because running is bad… but because the body wasn’t prepared for impact yet.

Good news?
With the right rehab and progression, most women can safely return to running.

If running is your goal, we can help you build a plan to get there.

Lifting. Carrying. Running. Jumping. No warm-up. No warning.

Your pelvic floor has to be functional, not just strong.

If you leak, feel heavy, avoid running, or plan your day around the nearest toilet — your body is asking for help.

We help mums return to life (and the beach run) confidently 🤍
