Circle of Security - 🌟 Understanding the Circle of Security 🌟
Ever wonder about the secret sauce to nurturing confident, resilient kids? Enter the Circle of Security! 🔄 This insightful framework helps caregivers understand their child’s needs and emotions, paving the way for a secure attachment bond.
🔍 The Circle of Security is like a roadmap for healthy parent-child relationships. Picture a circle with two halves:
1️⃣ “Being With” - This is all about being emotionally available and responsive to your child’s needs. It’s the foundation of trust and security.
2️⃣ “Exploring” - Encouraging your child to explore the world while knowing they can always come back to you for support and reassurance.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why does it matter? Research shows that secure attachment sets the stage for better emotional regulation, social skills, and overall well-being throughout life.
🌱 So, let’s nurture that secure bond with our little ones, providing a safe haven and a secure base for their amazing journey of growth! 💖

Word on the street is and QLD Health are going to start facilitating this in October! Whilst our facilitator is on maternity leave, this would be a great option as it’s also FREE! Contact The Neighbourhood Hub for more info!

Swipe for ideas ➡️➡️

1. Start thinking about your priorities during pregnancy.
It’s impossible to set boundaries without first knowing your priorities. As early as possible during your pregnancy, start thinking about what’s important to you. How do you want to spend your time? Your energy?
When you have clarity about your priorities, it’s so much easier to communicate your needs and set boundaries.
2. Communicate with compassion.
Without clear communication, the people around you won’t know how to support you!
Be open and honest about your expectations for what visits from family and friends will look like. Rather than having expectations in your mind — that go unmet and later lead to resentment — tell your loved ones how they can support you!
One of the best things I have been able to do during the antenatal period is explicitly communicate to my partner, what I need. Honey, I need you to listen or I need you to get X for me.
3. Let go of the guilt!
The main thing that may prevent you from communicating your postpartum boundaries are feelings of guilt. You may have a hard time saying no to certain offers or requests. Or you may feel that your boundaries are letting your loved ones down…
Saying “no” or “not right now” isn’t always easy. But you’ll gain more confidence in making requests and setting boundaries as you practice this skill over time. Be patient with yourself and don’t feel guilty for putting your family’s needs first!
