Flu Vaccines Now Available at PHMC 💉

Flu season is here, and we’re encouraging all patients to stay protected this year.

Online bookings are currently available for patients aged 65 years and over for our dedicated flu clinic sessions.

👉 All other age groups will need to call the clinic to book their flu vaccination appointment at this stage. Our team will be happy to help find a suitable time for you.

🌟 What’s new this year?
The FluMist nasal vaccine has now been added to the free vaccination program for children aged 2–5 years. This is a needle-free option, making it a great choice for little ones.

After 5 wonderful years with PHMC, we are sadly saying goodbye to Nurse Kim as she prepares to return home to WA this April.

Kim has been a valued member of our team, consistently showing kindness, dedication, and genuine care to both her patients and colleagues. Her hard work and positive presence have made a lasting impact across the clinic.

While we will truly miss her, we are so grateful for everything she has contributed over the years.

🌟 Welcome Dr Ganesh Thaneeru to PHMC 🌟

Paul Hopkins Medical Complex is pleased to welcome Dr Ganesh Thaneeru to the team.

Dr Ganesh brings over 40 years of medical experience and is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP) and the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (FRNZCUC). He has been living and working in New Zealand since 2000 and is now excited to begin this next chapter in Australia, he is relocating to be closer to his son, who is currently working in Mackay as an Interventional Cardiologist.

Dr Ganesh is looking forward to meeting patients and contributing his experience and compassionate approach to the local community.

About the role:

This is a key role within our nursing team. You’ll be responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the treatment room and providing exceptional care to our patients.

The role suits a nurse with strong people skills who enjoys working closely with patients, particularly in assisting GP's, as well as a variety of treatment room and chronic disease support tasks.

You’ll report to the Nurse Coordinator and Practice Manager, and be well supported in your role.

What we’re looking for:
- Current AHPRA nursing registration
- A positive, team-focused attitude and great communication skills
- Comfortable using computers and healthcare technology
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training
- Vaccination qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Experienced Medical Receptionist – Full Time hours only

Paul Hopkins Medical is seeking an experienced and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our growing team.

PHMC is one of Mackay’s largest general practices, with over 20 doctors working across three clinic locations. As our team continues to expand, we are looking for someone who can step confidently into a busy environment and become an integral part of our front-of-house team.

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys helping people, thrives under pressure, and can quickly learn complex systems and processes.

About the Role

Our reception team plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing patient appointments and doctor schedules
• Answering and triaging multiple incoming calls
• Providing high quality customer service to patients
• Processing Medicare billings and understanding billing requirements
• Maintaining accurate patient records and digital filing
• Supporting doctors and nurses with administrative coordination
• Following infection control and practice policies
• Managing patient enquiries and assisting with front desk workflow

No two days are the same — this role requires someone who can multitask, prioritise and stay calm in a busy clinical environment.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

• Has 2+ years experience in a busy reception or administration role (medical reception highly regarded)
• Has excellent customer service skills and a professional phone manner
• Is confident managing high volumes of calls and patient enquiries
• Can quickly learn and apply complex practice policies and procedures
• Has strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Is a team player with a positive and proactive attitude
• Is comfortable using computer systems and learning new software quickly

Hours:

This is a full-time role.

Applicants must be available between 7:30am and 5:00pm, with one early finish each week.
You may be required to work across our three Mackay clinic locations.
