There was plenty of laughter, teamwork, and a touch of friendly competition today as our residents took part in seated hockey for Sports Day! 🏑💚

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, cheering each other on, and enjoying the moment together. Activities like these remind us that fun, movement, and connection have no age limit.

We’re so proud of our residents for giving it a go and making the day so special! 🌟

Hip Pocket Workwear & Safety Mackay have a pop-up shop happening on Thursday 12th March 2026, starting 9am, at Francis of Assisi Home. Come check out their colourful range of scrubs, suitable for our Fun Fridays or Theme days. They will also have a range of Skechers and New Balance work shoes available to purchase or order.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful morning today - listening to the wonderful carols by the students of St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School West Mackay. Thank you St Francis for visiting us today - you truly made our day! Wishing all your students and staff a very merry Christmas 🎄

Good evening, just a reminder that MAPS Pharmacy will set up a pop up shop for our residents tomorrow morning. Also St Francis Xavier School students will be visiting the residents and singing Christmas carols in St Joseph lounge. Please see flyer below for the details.

Come along and check out the stalls. Also the physio team have put together some Christmas games with lots of prizes to be won!! See the poster below for more info.

🚐 We’ve got exciting news to share!

Our residents are hitting the road in style with our brand new bus! 🎉

Our new bus will make our residents’ outings even more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable and will help us continue providing wonderful opportunities for our residents to stay connected with the community and enjoy regular trips and activities.

Since we’ve upgraded, our old bus is now for sale — and we’d love your help finding it a new home! If you know anyone who might be interested, please check out our Facebook ad and give it a share.

At Francis of Assisi Home, we have an awesome team of Diversional Therapists (DTs) and Resident Engagement Officers (REOs) who spend time with our residents, engaging them in group activities or one-on-ones. This month they are focusing on engaging residents in making Christmas craft, either for their sections or for the Christmas Village in our central courtyard. To make this sustainable, we prefer to reuse/recycle what we already have instead of buying more stuff. Therefore, we would like to ask you for any kind donations of Christmas tinsel, baubles, trees, etc that you do not use anymore (please do not buy new decorations, we only want what you don’t use anymore). These will be cut up, glued, wired and crafted into wonderful Christmas craft, helping our residents make beautiful memories and contributing to the Francis of Assisi annual Christmas spirit!! You are also welcome to join us in creating craft. Santa’s workshop tables have been set up in St Joseph. Please contact Kristine at the office for more information. Thank you 🙏
