Honouring Indigenous Wisdom in a Digital Age
Aurora Healthcare Australia proudly joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on 9 August.

This year’s theme, “Indigenous Peoples and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures”, invites us to reflect on how emerging technologies can both empower and challenge Indigenous communities. Artificial intelligence holds promise for preserving ancestral knowledge, revitalising languages, and improving access to culturally safe healthcare. But without ethical safeguards, it risks reinforcing bias and digital exclusion.

At Aurora Healthcare, we recognise the deep cultural, spiritual, and ecological wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Their knowledge systems have sustained communities and Country for tens of thousands of years. We believe that healthcare must honour this legacy—not just in words, but in practice.

What a wonderful day we have had celebrating our AMAZING Nursing team for International Nurses Day.

Today Mackay Private Hospital took our whole Nursing team out of the Hospital for a training day and lunch to celebrate.
Many thanks goes to our fab casual nurses who took care of our patients for the day.
