Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), together with the Federal Government, is pleased to announce the establishment of a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Mackay, operated by Bupa.
The clinic, which opens today (23 February), will help reduce pressure on the Mackay Base Hospital emergency department (ED) and make it easier for Mackay residents to see a doctor or nurse when they need urgent, but not life-threatening, care.

Anyone can access urgent care at the clinic when they need medical attention for an illness or injury that can be managed without a trip to the ED, but cannot wait for an appointment with their regular GP.
The clinic is a bulk-billed, walk-in service and patients won't need an appointment or referral to be seen.
The Mackay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will not provide ongoing care or treatment for chronic conditions, referrals, or prescription requests. All patients are referred back to their usual GP provider for these items.
