Debbie Napier – Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner

Here's a little about me: I am a registered NDIS specialist behaviour support practitioner with six years of experience in behaviour support. Over the past two years, I've been proud to run my own business, Napier Support Solutions.

I have been fortunate to work in community services for the past decade, focusing on training and disability support. Before that, I spent 20 years teaching at a local high school. In the last ten years of my teaching career, I especially enjoyed supporting students with ASD, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I truly believe that all these experiences have prepared me for my current role.

I'm truly passionate about helping people, especially those with complex disabilities and behaviours. I enjoy working closely with other providers and schools to make a positive difference. Supporting individuals to live better, more fulfilling lives is something I truly love. Over the years, I've been fortunate to work with clients ranging in age from 3 to 73, each with their own unique needs and diagnoses; everyone is truly different and special.

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

Today marks World Autism Awareness Day.
It is a day to recognise, understand and support people on the autism spectrum, and to acknowledge the unique strengths, perspectives and challenges that come with it.

Autism is not something that needs to be “fixed”, it is a different way of experiencing the world. For many individuals and families, everyday life can come with extra hurdles, but also incredible resilience, talent and individuality.

Take a moment today to listen, learn and show kindness. A little understanding can go a long way in creating a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone.

If you or someone you love is on the spectrum, know that you are seen, valued and supported.

The 1st of October officially marks the start of Mental Health Month and a reminder that Queensland Mental Health Week is only 3 days away! 💜💚
