Massive ‘Well Done’ to all our Offroad racers at Moranbah over the weekend!
With the Callander Father and Son duo coming in 2nd and 3rd over all in their Ultimate pro buggies, it was an epic battle over two days with only seconds between them.

Rednut Racing put in a solid effort with a navi change and pulled an amazing lap time in one of the sections. Kye, you are insane!

And finally JUST PRESS Racing made their debut into Offroad racing with none other than our Canam build from 2022. After a couple ‘practice laps’ Jack really got the feel of things and smashed some well timed laps. So much more to come from this team!

This local 100 extra cab was back in this week having the interior installed after being at paint.
I don’t even know what to say for this one…it’s clean, it’s well built..it’s honestly one of those vehicles that make us want to jump the fence from Patrols to the comfort of a 1HDFTE 100…almost.
The interior is on point with the reupholstered roof liner and a thorough in house clean of all plastics and dash.
Chris did what he does best and delivered another perfect radius edged conversion using our very popular 100/105 extra cab rear wall kit as well as our tray & tank mount kit.

From this vehicles transition from wagon (with a rear draw set up) to current form, approximately 800kg in weight has been dropped and it now has a tray length of 2100mm.

The owner of this one is super happy to have his pride and joy back together, engineered, and ready to complete the tray/canopy set up for his many planned adventures.
Only thing Ian needs to sort now, is where he is heading off to first!

Off the 105 extra cab goes, back down to Brisbane. To say Daniel was excited to see his car again was an understatement....

Off the 105 extra cab goes, back down to Brisbane.
To say Daniel was excited to see his car again was an understatement.
We picked him up from the airport this morning and he was bouncing around in the work car like a kid at Christmas. This part of the handover always makes us smile the most.
We spent a good hour or so talking mods and upgrades and boy does Daniel have a list. We’ll be following closely as this vehicle evolves into a head turner while retaining its intended purpose of spending most of it’s time offroad.

It was a pleasure working with Daniel and his vehicle and we really can’t thank him enough for all the patience he showed as Chris and I worked through what has been the busiest start to the year we’ve ever had here at CAM Fab.

Up next will be a few smaller inhouse jobs as we finally peel off the car cover on our own Patrol and get cutting and stretching.

Lastly, I’d just like to mention that we currently have an excessive amount of wall kit orders we are working through, which has blown out our lead times to 12-14 business days from order payment to freight.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Michael from Goode's Off-Road here visiting us all the way from Texas, USA.
We hosted Michael for the very last King Of Carnage winch truck event, to which was his first time experiencing this type of offroad racing. He has mentioned he might be back over for the last Cliffhanger event!!

Chris spent sometime showing him the workshop and showing him how to achieve that perfect radius edge on a conversion that we are well known for, whilst I got some time to walk Michael through more of our products.

Goode’s Offroad has placed a significant order of Landcruiser wall kits and chassis extension kits with us that will solidify CAM Fab overseas and perhaps introduce interest in the mighty Patrol’s with Michael giving us a special mission to do a conversion for him that he can export over to his home state to complete with an engine swap and some mad suspension that we aren’t allowed to have over here.

Lastly we had a lovely dinner together with both our families that has not only sealed a strong working relationship with CAM Fabrications future exports to the United States, but also created a bond and a friendship that will no doubt see Chris and I head off to America to visit our new friends sometime soon!

Carnage Off Road - Sarina is one of our biggest events of the year and one we support with pride.
HI-DEE HOE has been with us since Easter for rear shock repair and we decided she really was in desperate need of new make up as well before this epic finale of the King Of Carnage.

Over the last 3 weeks we’ve addressed her rusted bar work issues, new head lights, new UHF, washed winch ropes, cleaned and polished all her chequer plate, painted rear belly plate and rear diff, given the rims a clean and polished her cab to within an inch of its life.
We have worked tirelessly until the late hours of every night and boy has it paid off.
She is one super sexy winch truck!

Come check her out over the weekend and maybe you might catch Chris and Cooper sneak in a lap or two on the track.
We’ll also have a special guest with us, Michael from Goode's Off-Road all the way from Texas USA. Michael changed is flight plans 2 weeks ago when we told him of this event. He is a keen Landcruiser fan, we are hoping to change his mind this weekend and send him home with not only our cruiser rear wall kits, but maybe some Patrol kits as well 😉

As always we are going right down to the wire with pre event prep!
The beloved Hi-Dee Hoe has been in desperate need of rear shock repair for quite a while.
Hi-Dee has had these 2.5” x 14” adjustable remote reservoir shocks forever, which originated from Hi-dee no.1 15 years ago, long before remote res was the norm in winch trucks.
These shocks have seen many events and are now looking extremely sad.

A few phone calls and emails to Mikes Shock Shop yesterday and this morning, and we now have a set of new shafts along with new seal kits and bearings on their way. Parts will arrive in next few days🤞and will then be taken to ROC 4x4 here in Mackay for rebuild and then back to us for install.
While thats all happening, we’ll also give Hi-Dee a bit of a detail, make her shiny bits shiny again and squeeze in a couple more minor repairs before King Of Carnage in 14 days.

Nothing but the best for this ol girl.

Who will it be… Blowout Racing, Swamp Donkey Racing? Taipan Racing? Or will JUST PRESS Racing put another notch in their belt to reclaim the title in their new secret vehicle?

We can only imagine the gruelling stages the Carnage crew are prepping for the Grand Finale.

Away from the workshop after hours, and in the lead up to Carnage, we’ll be getting the beloved and iconic HiDeeHoe Racing truck ready for her final sideline event before she reappears on the Class 8 track.

Our 100/105 and 80 extra cab rear wall kit sales have continued to be extremely strong and our best sellers.
One question we get asked frequently after sale, is ‘How do we complete the wiring side of things?’
We do a lot of wiring work on the cruiser extra cabs. This starts with completely stripping all the tape and conduit off the loom and unpin any wire that is no longer needed completely out from the plugs at the front foot wells. Up to 80 wires are removed in some models. We then drop the wires we do need through the rubber grommet under the passengers seat.
We fit deutsch plugs under the floor and make a new rear wiring loom for tail lights, abs sensors (pending on model), tank senders, tank change over solenoids & trailer plug.

The first photo below, shows just how much wiring is stripped from a 100 series.
2nd photo shows our 80 series extra cab wiring loom, 3rd shows deutsch plug position on the rear of an 80 series (another option).

*Our wiring looms are not available for purchase as some factory plugs need to be reused. These are for in house conversions only.

VDJ79 series 300mm Chassis Extension kits.

We have been sitting on these for at least the last 18 months-2 years and it’s now time to get them out amongst the wild.

This 8 piece kit comes with the following:
2x Inner Chassis C section
2x Outer Chassis C section
2x 4mm Fish Plates
2x Cab Mounts
-QLD design approval cert (copy of original)
-Engineering summary letter including FEA (copy of original)

The vehicle will need to have the tail shaft and handbrake cable extended.

These kits can support a GVM of up to 4200KG.

We are back again for 2025! Race cars, Conversions, Mod Kits and Custom Fab Work…we are rested and ready to do what we do best. First job up for the year is tidying up this winch truck for . This LS’d GQ will be getting a safety cage update, some updated safety gear in the cab, bar work refresh, and a couple other little things before the big girl heads off to paint. Chris will be busy as usual, and to add some spark this year, i’m throwing in our own personal conversion project featuring all those ‘outside the box’ ideas that we’ve held back from builds so far, which will push some boundaries and have our engineer throwing ADR books at us. We’ve got the wonderful Tony and Sarah from helping us out with a killer paint-job..there is so much to tell about this build but we’ll leave it there for now. Bookings are open and rear wall kit orders are now being taken.
