✨ OUR REGION, OUR PEOPLE: MEET TRISSI ✨| Living with mental health challenges can make even the simplest daily tasks feel exhausting and overwhelming.

For Sarah, some days just getting out of bed or going to an appointment can feel like an uphill battle.

That’s why an exercise physiology and wellness program in the Pioneer Valley, west of Mackay, is making such a difference in people’s lives.

The Add Nature Project, which incorporates hiking, stand-up paddling, Pilates, Tai Chi, and boxing, uses the power of movement and the great outdoors to support mental wellbeing.

Joining the wellness program was a turning point for 26-year-old Sarah, who says spending time outdoors has helped her stay connected to herself and others, even during her most challenging moments.

Are you looking to support a fun and inclusive community event? We invite you to get involved in our upcoming U-BEACH Community Beach Day – a fully inclusive event that provides people with disability the opportunity to enjoy adapted beach activities and social connection. You can volunteer your time, sponsor the event, or help spread the word to your clients who may benefit from this great day. Join us in making the beach accessible for everyone!
Engedi has partnered with U-BEACH who were named Australia’s best community program for people with disability in 2023, and we are now even bigger and better! Our U-BEACH community beach day in Mackay will take place on Friday May 30, 2025 at Mackay Harbour from 9am-1pm and we would be thrilled to have your support.
This is an accessible event where we will roll out the beach mat, beach wheelchairs, beach walkers, and sand adapted sticks and crutches at Mackay Harbour. Equipment is available for children, youth, and adults.
Our team of volunteered registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists support everyone to enjoy the beach. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience we support wheelchair transfers (including hoist), any form of mobility, and participation in beach activities. Adapted beach activities will include walking/wheeling, swimming, kites, cricket, sand games, rock art, and sandcastles, with our event to be patrolled by a surf lifesaver.
If you are available to volunteer, please complete this registration survey: https://cqu.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9Fzm7xs7nPmY2W2

If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to contact Helen from Engedi Therapy on 4942 4905 or Sasha Job (U-BEACH Project Lead) on 07 4150 7702. We hope to see you and your clients at the beach!
