This history is obvious through the surrounding, well-preserved early 20th century and art deco architecture, which bring an endearing character to the streets of the city. Ever-present history, coupled with a mix of new and vibrant businesses and state-of-the-art premises, The Mackay City Centre is a diverse and vibrant focus point of our regionโ€™s business landscape. The exciting Mackay Waterfront Priority Development Area (PDA) is also taking shape. The area encompasses approximately 172 hectares and focuses on five key precincts including the City Centre, Riverside, Enterprise, Queens park and Beachside. Early works are set to commence in 2021 and include public realm upgrades that will allow a sense of connection to the stunning Pioneer River as well as an enjoyable recreational space for the community to relax and utilise.

Looking for something to do in your lunchbreak? Why not join Dylan Mooney for a mid-day tour of โ€˜Ripples Through Timeโ€™.

Proud Yuwi, Torres Strait and Australian South Sea Islander Artist and Curator Dylan Mooney will deliver free, half hour Thursday โ€˜Lunchbox Toursโ€™ of his exhibition โ€˜Ripples Through Timeโ€™ in October.

Curated from the MRC Indigenous Art Collection, this exhibition explores the relationship between water and time and the importance of water in creating connections in our communities, cultures, journeys, landscapes, plants and animals across our past, present and future. These works reflect on such themes as colonisation, journeys (by ship and other forms across the ocean), the landscape, cultural practices and knowledge.

Let us help! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Did you know community and not-for-profit groups can apply for grants of up to $750 to help spread the festive cheer? ๐Ÿฅณ
Events can be anything from decorated bikes to tour light displays, a Christmas concert in the park, festive water fun or something completely different. All you have to do is host an event that brings the community together.
The Christmas Grants program is open NOW - with $10,000 in total available to support community events and initiatives.
But don't wait for the elves to get your applications in - they close on October 18. ๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ
