A little life update 🗓️: After much reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to no longer take on new bookings as a wedding celebrant. Life has a funny way of setting you on new paths, and for me, that path has led me to pursue a career as a doctor. As I begin my first year of medical school, I say goodbye to a journey that has brought so much joy, love, and connection into my life.

To all of my incredible couples: I’ve had the incredible privilege of telling your stories, and for that, I will forever be grateful. To all the couples who have booked with me, trusted me with your love stories - I’ve had the time of my life with you.
 It’s such a privileged experience, being able to marry two people in love. From hearing about when you first met, first fell in love, first realised this was the person you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.

While my days as a celebrant are coming to a close, the beautiful moments and stories we’ve shared will stay with me forever. For those who have already booked with me, know that I’m still all in and I’ll be there for you just as I promised. 🩷

So thank you, with all my heart for the past few years. The wedding industry is so brilliant and vibrant and amazing and I have made so many incredible friends along the way.

Mr & Mrs Winbank | 24.4.2024 | 📍 Eimeo Surf Club

Dillon & Shanae were high school sweethearts and whilst she had initially written him off because of his tongue piercing and bucket hat, it did not stop her from accepting his facebook request. One conversation lead to another and another which then led to a memorable drive and their relationship becoming official...ly a secret that the pair kept until August 2016 when they would hard launch their relationship at Dillon's mums 40th.

Over the years, Dillon & Shanae's relationship has evolved with each chapter of their lives, from moving in together, to the birth of their children and on the 24th April 2024, I was lucky enough to officiate the chapter when they begin as Husband & Wife 💍.

Jessie & Ali | Private Farm, Sarina | 6th May, 2023 🐝

It would be that singular moment, that catch up at 5pm that would forever alter the trajectory and life path for Jessie and Ali. Jessie’s immediate thought was ‘Holey Moley’ when she saw Ali and Ali couldn’t help but notice that Jess appeared softer in real life in comparison to her photos and she had the most beautiful, piercing green eyes she’d ever seen… and they were staring right back into hers.

Their connection effortless and enthralling. They spoke about anything and everything and were so enamoured that they forgot to order drinks. “How have you been here this whole time and I’ve never found you before now?” thought Jess. But also at the same time, she felt like she’d known Ali her whole life.

Surrounded by the people they love most in this world, I got to help these two make it official 😍

01.09.2023 | Shawn & LeeAnna | 📍 Cape Gloucester Resort ⁠

In September last year, I had the privilege of marrying Shawn and LeeAnna in an intimate ceremony at Cape Gloucester. Cape Gloucester holds a special place in the hearts of Shawn and LeeAnna as it is the place that Shawn proposed. ⁠
⁠
Within their ceremony, we were not just celebrating the love that Shawn and LeeAnna have for one another, but also celebrating the blending of their families with Reef & Slater. ⁠
⁠
In a scene reminiscent of a movie, for their first date, Shawn, chivalrous and thoughtful, arrived to pick up LeeAnna with a single red rose in hand. The serendipity of the moment was accentuated by the Stone Sour version of the classic "Wicked Game" playing on the radio, a song that would later become intertwined with their journey as it is the same song LeeAnna walked down the aisle to today. Having spent the time getting to know one another, this first date wasn’t like other first dates. It was a reunion of friends, a meeting of hearts. For Shawn, falling in love with LeeAnna wasn't like falling at all. It wasn't sudden or unexpected; it was the culmination of a thousand small moments. Each smile exchanged, every shared laugh, and the countless conversations that flowed between them ⁠

In order to get married in Australia, you will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form with your celebrant at least one month before the wedding date. This form asks for details such as names, dates and places of birth, proof of identity and occupation. ⁠

When I sit down to complete these forms with couples, I often (99.99%) of the time, a mother will tell me 'I don't know what to put down in the occupation section because i'm JUST a stay at home mum'. ⁠

It’s the ONLY role I’ve noticed that we put a ‘just’ in front of. In all my years of being a celebrant, nobody has ever said ‘I’m just a doctor, or I’m just an engineer’ (and to be honest, if they did- we’d both know they are w***y and in need of constant validation as society already pedestals these careers). ⁠

So, to the mother questioning what write down on paper - You are not JUST a ‘stay at home mum’. You are a child development associate, a domestic engineer, the managing director of household operations, a disaster response coordinator and specialist (tantrum) negotiator. And yes, 100% I support you putting down any one of those as your occupations when we catch up to fill out our paperwork 🤝 ⁠

Rarely does a love story begin with Boy meets girl, boy gets punched in the face by girl, but that is how this love story begins and… spoiler alert, they still fall in love and live happily ever after. ⁠
Meet Daniel and Natasha, defying all expectations. ⁠
⁠
Their journey began in high school back in 2010. Natasha, a sassy eighth-grader, and Daniel, hilarious and two grades above her at Pioneer High School. It all started when Daniel overheard Natasha ranting about her science teacher. She *may* or *may not* have said she wanted to punch him. Without missing a beat, he taps his cheek and says, "Go on then." Whilst this may have been a rocky start, Rocky as in Rocky Balboa, it would lay the foundations of a friendship which would then change and evolve over time with Daniel and Natasha realising the depths of their feelings exceeded that of a ‘regular’ friendship. ⁠

Their love has grown and evolved through all the ups and downs of life. From graduating high school to becoming adults and even navigating the adventure of fur parenthood with their mischievous pup Charlie. They've faced it all together 👩‍❤️‍👨💫⁠

As a wedding celebrant, I often am asking couples to open up and be vulnerable when writing their vows. In honour of pride month, and in the year of showing up and being present, I thought I would write some of my own. ⁠

I vow to honor and respect your unique journey, celebrating every aspect of your identity and supporting you in embracing your true self. ⁠

I promise to stand by your side, advocating for equality and fighting against discrimination, so that love can thrive in a world that celebrates diversity. (As a caveat, I also vow to continue to NEVER be in the back of your kiss shots during the ceremony, nor will I be in the background of photos when you are saying your vows to one another). ⁠

I commit to creating a safe and accepting space for you, where you can express yourself freely, without judgment or fear.⁠

I pledge to learn and grow with you, educating myself about the LGBTIQ community, its history, and the challenges it faces, so that I can be an ally and advocate by your side. ⁠

Celebrating 20 years of love & laughter 💍✨

Cheree and Steve, the dynamic duo who found love when Steve was housesitting for Cheree's brother. From that moment, their incredible love story began to unfold, and they said 'I do' right here at Lamberts Beach Lookout on May 17th, 2003. 🌅🌺⁠

From whispering those magical three words for the first time to building their dream home, every milestone has been a chapter in their forever story. ⁠
⁠
So, on the 20th of May, as the sun was rising, we did a vow renewal that focused on their incredible journey, celebrating their unwavering commitment and the joy they've brought into each other's lives. Cheers to Cheree and Steve, the epitome of true love! 🥂✨ ⁠
