At Medtronic, we’re proud to support initiatives that expand access to care, especially in communities where it’s needed most.

This year, one of our employees Mimi Tan had the opportunity to join the Pacific Islands Pacemaker Services (PIPS) team on their mission trip to Fiji for a week dedicated to advancing cardiac care across the Pacific.

During the trip, the team:
✅ Checked 142 pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillator
and performed 19 procedures, including 3 electrophysiology studies (EPS)
✅ Met with the Fiji Ministry of Health to discuss long-term sustainability of cardiac services
📺 Even made an appearance on Fiji News! Watch the story here - https://lnkd.in/gbh739S2

PIPS is a charitable organisation founded by clinicians passionate about improving cardiac care across the Pacific Islands. Each trip is funded entirely through community donations and fundraising efforts and aims to support follow-ups, new device implants, and local clinician education.

Medtronic is honoured to play a small part in enabling this work, helping ensure patients in the Pacific can continue to access cardiac care.

Our Acute Care and Monitoring team is taking part in Life's Little Treasures Foundation Mighty Trek Challenge, pushing an incubator 900km from NSW to VIC to support families of premature and sick babies.

From North Sydney to Melbourne, the teams have already covered 231km, with 669km still to go!

This cause is especially close to our hearts, as some of our team members have personally experienced immense support following their NICU journeys. Your support helps provide care packages, resources, and services that improve emotional well-being and early development for families during a difficult time.

We recently had the privilege of presenting at a leading healthcare organisation’s Adaptive Leadership Conference, where we joined 55 healthcare leaders for a powerful session on technology innovation and the role of artificial intelligence in medicine.

Together with our partners, we explored how to drive responsible technology adoption, promote healthcare equity, understand the patient perspective, and lead with ethics and empathy in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.

The positive feedback, new connections, and strong interest in continued collaboration reinforce our shared commitment to working hand-in-hand with healthcare leaders to advance meaningful change.

At Medtronic, we believe innovation is most impactful when we co-create with our partners, uniting expertise, values, and purpose to better serve patients and communities around the world.

Thinking differently is a strength.

Our ABLED Network’s recent “Thinking Differently: Embracing Neurodiversity at Home & at Work” event brought together employees across Australia and New Zealand to learn, share, and break down barriers around neurodivergence. We heard personal stories from our team and had clinical psychologist Steve Den-kaat share insights on how to better support neurodivergent colleagues, carers and families, at work and at home.

By listening, learning, and leading with empathy, we’re building a workplace where everyone can thrive. Inclusion isn’t just a value, it’s how we make Medtronic a great place to work.

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome 44 students and staff from Marsden High School for an inspiring Industry Visit in our Sydney headquarters.

Our team showed how science, tech, and passion come together to solve real healthcare challenges — from robotic-assisted surgery tools to the evolution of the pacemaker and innovations in cranial and spinal technologies — students got hands-on with the future of healthcare.

They also heard from our team across engineering, data, HR, marketing, and regulatory affairs. Huge thanks to Rashmi Joglekar, Mahesh Datar, Catherine Hon, and Carmelli Sandiego for sharing their insights, and to United Way Australia for their partnership.

One student said, “I am now considering a career in the medical field STEM/research.”

That’s why we do what we do. At Medtronic, we’re committed to inspiring the next generation. Because science is cool, and so is making a difference.

As part of our Project 6 global volunteer initiative, 30 Medtronic employees spent the day with OzHarvest, helping prepare rescued food for people in need across Sydney. It was a powerful way to give back, and a chance to learn how small actions can create big impact.

Alongside preparing meals, our teams gained hands-on insights into reducing food waste, including clever ways to repurpose everyday scraps, like turning potato peels into delicious, crisp snacks. These lessons in sustainability and food security were just as meaningful as the meals we helped deliver.

A heartfelt thank you to our ANZ Philanthropy Committee and OzHarvest for the opportunity to live our Mission in the community.
