POV: you forgot you even have type 1 diabetes today.

You danced in the rain.

You experienced a tea ceremony in Japan.

You performed on stage.

You celebrated your engagement surrounded by cannoli and cupcakes.

Type 1 didn’t interrupt a single moment; Life doesn’t pause and neither do our MiniMed Champions

"I've always felt like you could do anything with diabetes. Type 1 diabetes 24 years ago and now are very different, and technology has evolved with MiniMed. Don't be scared of what might hold you back, there are no limits to what you can achieve.” - Alexander Zverev

Every journey with diabetes looks different but progress, support, and belief can make a difference!

15/01/2026

Type 1 diabetes doesn’t look one way.
And it doesn’t shape one kind of life.

From centre court to the footy field, and the dance floor Alexander Zverev, Paddy McCartin and Alexia show what’s possible when lived experience is met with courage, support and resilience.

We brought this incredible panel together in Melbourne for an exclusive event to do more than tell stories. We are raising awareness, making the invisible, VISIBLE and having honest conversations about the realities of living with type 1 diabetes.

T1d is widely misunderstood. When people are supported, seen and given access, they can live full ambitious lives without limits!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 4 years old — scared, overwhelmed, and just wanting life to feel “normal” again. What I didn’t know then was how much this journey would shape me — not by limiting me, but by building resilience, discipline, and drive.

T1D is constant — 24/7, 365 days a year—every decision matters. There’ve been ambulance rides, sleepless nights, and moments that tested me. But my family, friends, and healthcare team have always had my back.

Now, two decades later, I’m thriving — competing in basketball, studying, travelling, hitting goals in the gym, and even modelling and acting. Diabetes may influence my life, but it doesn’t define it.

If I could talk to my younger self, I’d say:

“You’ve got this. Every challenge will build your strength. Diabetes will shape you — but it will never limit you.”

Thank you for sharing your story with us Ethan, you inspire us every day
