On-Balance Physiotherapy

On-Balance Physiotherapy Vestibular Rehab Clinic providing treatment in the management of vertigo, dizziness and imbalance.

Headed up by Pam Reynolds, On-Balance Physiotherapy was established specifically to treat vestibular and balance disorders (vertigo, dizziness and headache). Pam has over 35 years clinical experience and over 10 working exclusively in this field. Our experienced practitioners are able to ask the right questions and do the right clinical examination to assess the cause of your condition and provide the optimal treatment outcomes. Diagnostic tools such as: infra-red video goggles are used to monitor and record eye movement and a force platform to measure balance help accurately assess your problem. Everyone’s experience of these conditions is different, for some people they are minor while for others their symptoms create a significant impact on lifestyle. Rest assured that at On-Balance Physiotherapy our experienced team will be able to help ease your concerns, relieve your symptoms and help you regain your normal activity levels. If you suffer from vertigo, dizziness, imbalance or headache then call us now on 02 9482 4511 and book an appointment.

As we do each year, we recently sent some of our team to NOTSA (Neuro-otology Society of Australia). It was wonderful to be in Melbourne and learn from Neurotoligists, ENTs, Psycholgists, Audiologists, and other Physiotherapists who are all passionate about helping patients with dizziness/vertigo.

A particular highlight was to hear from Prof Raymond Van de Berg (Maastricht University Medical Center) about cochlear-vestibular implants.

We are very excited to have our new Eclipse for VEMP testing. Completing Vestibular Function Tests (including VEMPs and video head impulse tests) allows us to objectively analyze each of the 5 balance organs in your inner ear.

Following your initial appointment with us, your physio will book in these tests for you as indicated. Give us a call on 94824511 to book in with our specially trained team of physios, and receive help for dizziness or imbalance.

Your small but mighty inner ear! It is incredible that a system this small gives us such valuable information and reflexes for our body and eye balance.

Call us on 9482 4511 if you would like to be better balanced, or if you are experiencing dizziness or vertigo.

One of the most common conditions that causes a sensation of vertigo is “Vestibular Migraine”.
It can be a surprise to patients that migraines may not always present with a headache. To learn more about the wide variety of migraines and the latest in research and treatment, we recommend you sign up for free webinars coming up in September by the Migraine and Headache Australia organization.

Smile if you love seeing dizzy patients!
Meredith has worked at On-Balance for over 10 years and is now the Clinical Lead for the Vestibular team.

Meredith is particularly passionate about it becoming standard practice for all children who are experiencing dizziness/imbalance or have hearing loss to be assessed and treated for vestibular dysfunction. She has developed our Paediatric screening and rehabilitation program and spends time educating other physiotherapists and medical professionals about paediatric patients who have in the past not had access to the services they’ve needed.
You can call 94824511 to book an appointment with Meredith at our Thornleigh or Macquarie Park rooms.

We have been quiet on facebook for a little while (sorry!) but that’s because we’ve been focussed on seeing dizzy patients and setting up some wonderful new clinics. We have vestibular clinics at Thornleigh, Macquarie Park, and Curl Curl. We also continue to see patients at Burwood. Check out our website below for more details, and you can still reach us on our same number 94824511.

With over 40 years of clinical experience, our practice was set up specifically to treat vestibular and balance disorders. Visit any of our four Sydney locations.

Did you know that not only does your vestibular system help with body balance, but also your eye balance? Your eyes need to be able to balance in your skull as your head moves so that you can see the world clearly and steadily.
The video below is a simulation of what the world can look like for patients when they have a sudden loss of function in their vestibular system, and the symptom is called ‘oscillopsia’.
If you have or are experiencing this symptom, give us a call to book with one of our physios on 94824511.

Spotted at Melbourne Museum last year by one of our physios, scans of Triceratops skulls show they had inner ear labyrinths like us with 3 semi-circular canals! I wonder if they ever got dizzy too?

“The lateral semicircular canal reveals that the basicranial axis of Triceratops is approximately 45° to the ground, which is an effective angle to display their horns as well as frill, and to graze. The semicircular canals of Triceratops are relatively smaller than those of primitive ceratopsians, such as Psittacosaurus and Protoceratops, suggesting that sensory input for the reflexive stabilization of gaze and posture of Triceratops was less developed than that of primitive ceratopsians.”

Endocranial anatomy of the ceratopsid dinosaur Triceratops and interpretations of sensory and motor function. By Rina Sakagami and Soichiro Kawabe.
