This week is NAIDOC Week, an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The theme for 2024 is "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!", which highlights the enduring strength and resilience of First Nations peoples, and the importance of honouring and amplifying their voices, traditions, and cultural pride.

Yesterday we were privileged to welcome proud Wiradjuri woman Felicity Kerslake from the Australian BushFood Education Centre and proud Gomeroi man Raymond Weatherall from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council. Felicity led two fascinating workshops about bush foods and medicines and Raymond conducted a powerful Smoking Ceremony for us. On behalf of the whole Nanosonics team, we thank you for sharing your culture and knowledge with us.

At Nanosonics we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live and work. We recognise the continuing connection of First Nations people to lands, waters and communities, and pay our respect to Elders both past and present.

Yesterday marked the sixth year since Michael, our CEO, began participating in the . Last night, Michael pitched a cardboard tent and slept rough to raise awareness and vital funds for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of finding themselves without a safe place to call home.

Patient Safety Awareness Day was started by the World Health Organization (WHO).

But, to Nanosonics, Patient Safety is also about the WHY.

More than 40 team members were up at 6 a.m. to participate in the second annual Nanosonics 1 mile/5K run, benefitting a local San Diego Hospital Foundation. A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Manchester Study Day and made it a huge success. The complimentary CPD event was a great success and saw attendees engage, discuss, question, and network with expert speakers and other like-minded delegates.

The Study Day was designed to help improve the safety of patients, clinics, their staff, and the environment by promoting the best practice of decontamination of ultrasound probes and the way infection prevention practices are understood and conducted. As well as showcasing new innovations that help to deliver improved standards of care.
